Hi there, we just took delivery of a bn L3309 w/fel & BH77. This is my first time owning or operating a backhoe, although we have utilized rented mini excavators fairly frequently.

My question is; are the buckets & attachments interchangeable between the Kubota backhoes (BH77) and the Kubota mini excavators (e.g. U17)?

I believe that all the current Kubota mini excavators use Kubota quick attach buckets.
I do not believe that BH77 buckets can use the quick attach method, unless modified, thus they would not be interchangeable.

What is the pin diameter and center to center spacing of the holes on the backhoe bucket? It may take bx stuff and northern tool towable hoe attachments (which i discovered are interchangeable).

I have a $160 ripper tooth from Northern for my 4520 and for the money im thrilled with it. 🤷‍♂️

A ripper tooth for $160?
Small machine?
What size (HP) tractor?
I recently paid $1,000 for a ripper for my L48 TLB.

No, not the pin on. The mini ex use matching metric pins. The bh series use standard size pins. Now if you can get a quick attach to fit your machine, you could go that route with the universal quick attach.

Welcome and congratulations on the new ride and the BH77.

Unfortunately I can not answer your question directly, however I have a BH77 and the BXpanded "quick connect" ,as well as, their ripper tooth.

I would recommend both of them. IMHO they are a "must have" and have proved to be an exceedingly valuable "time saver".

I only have about 160 hours on my tractor, but I would bet that at least 50-60% of that has been using Stonewall.....(that's my 77's name...LOL) (y)

Do you have a lot of ripping to do to justify the cost?
ABSOLUTELY NOT!
At my age, I do not even attempt to "justify"..... anything!
I wanted it,.... decided I could afford it,..... bought it!

^ Im trying to get THERE! But enjoying my ‘youth’ along the way.

Yes the ripper is $160. It only has to be strong enough for a small machine but i have yet to damage it.

The observation about mini ex’s using metric vs our backhoes standard pins is a good one. I bought a cheap chinese mini ex bucket made for 30mm pins and welded 1” shaft collars to it to use it on this backhoe. The holes were spaced closer together though so i did lose some ‘breakout’ force, but not enough to make me switch back. My hoe only came with a 16” bucket and i wanted something smaller but still cheap. I paid $200 for the bucket and maybe $10 for 4 shaft collars to weld to it.
