Compared to my old 3000hr b2150, I have noticed that on the same incline (hill I mow weekly) the b2150 will spin one rear wheel all the way up the hill (not locking diff in rear 2wd) while the b7800 490 hours will stall until I put it in midrange and then it will spin the rear wheel like the 2150 does. Weak hydro?

That sounds more like a big difference in the gear ratios. Is the B7800 faster than the B2150??

Tire pressure and style of tire you are running would be helpful. Both play a role in traction along with ballast.

No an HST will not normally climb hills in High, it's just the nature of it.

As far as spinning the tires, why don't you use 4wd, that is what it's there for!

they are about the same speed. I have a woods 7200 mower that I swapped between the two tractors. High range on the 7800 is disappointing . When putting it up after use there is a 3 inch ledge of concrete entering my storage shed and the 7800 will not pull over it in hi range. The 2150 will hop right up it. No comparison when mowing though, the 2150 has to be run at higher rpm to cut as well as the 7800. You can feel its works much harder than the 7800. Oh and I don't like that 1/4 inch valveing either. Finally got used to it; its just adding more work to the process....
