Hello all,

New to forum and hope to be posting on here for years to come. Looking at my first tractor purchase. And Im going orange. I have roughly about 5 acres of ground to mow and maintain. Driveway/garden/firewood/food plots etc.

I recently came across a dealership tractor. This is a one owner tractor. Selling dealer sold new to the owner and has maintained it.

B7800 HST 4wd turf tires. 60 in mower deck. 500 hrs. Super clean mint shape looks hardly used. Deck is great shape. I have dealer talked down to $9,000 down from 9,800. They are also going to put on a LA402-1 and bucket for $4300 no budging room on this.

I live in Kentucky looking to see if this is a good deal or not.
Thanks for any input.

Not sure how prices compare in KY but That's probably as good a deal you'll find anywhere on that set-up. I bought mine with 400hrs with a loader and 72inch deck last year for around $15K. Buy!

So far it sounds about right for a B7800 with a loader. Now is the time to ask yourself this before you pull the trigger and sing your life away. What are some future needs you might have for the tractor. Is a B7800 going to be big enough for other chores down the pike.

All of us here wish we had a tractor just a little bit bigger then what we currently have.

Like Eric says.
A good deal on the wrong tractor isn't really a good deal. I had an L185DT for 35 years. For 34 years, 6 months I wished I had an L245DT. Ended up spending over three times the initial price difference trying to make the L185 do what the L245 does, and never did get there...

So with that said....
Whats the biggest HP tractor you can get and still have a belly mower. I know you can go to the newer version of the B7800 $$$$. That is my only draw I want to stay with a belly mower so i hunted for the largest HP tractor that has mid mount PTO.

You are not mowing Montana - you are mowing 5 acres. I mow 7 acres. This tractor will meet your stated needs easily. It's a good deal. Get on with it!

What's every bodies obsession with belly mowers? I don't get it! I'd strongly recommend a rear mount finishing mower. SOOOOoooooooo much faster hooking it up and taking it off. Yank 3 pins pull the pto shaft and you're off like a dirty shirt. Plus you don't have to try and wrestle it in and out from under the tractor like you do with a belly mower.

I have to agree Eric…. I don't get it either, maybe I'm ignorant of some advantages of the belly, but unless I was rich enough for a dedicated mowing tractor, I'd go with a rear mount myself.

It depends on what you are mowing. Our property is more like park land and it's a lot easier and quicker mowing around trees with a belly mower. The center PTO also means you can use a front mounted snow blower. So unless you have eyes in the back of your head (or your arse), most humans will find this easier! And of course, I can mow at the same time as moving snow...

Well with the weather here in KY I was thinking snow blow first then finish mow the ice next. Haha. Honestly my reason for belly mower is in my near future is to have small apple tree orchard. Belly will make for quick easy mowing. Hope to have pictures soon.:D

I use my B6100 with a rear finish mower on many residential lawns in my landscape biz and never have an ounce of problems with manoeuvrability. My on set backs are I wish it was a live pto, rear discharge mower and turf tires. But I carry it on the trailer with me incase I come across a tall thick lawn, I can power threw the grass better with the tractor then my commercial walk behind.

Heres something to ponder. I have a 14hp diesel tractor with a 48" finish mower and a 14hp gasoline self propelled walk behind with a 44 inch deck. Both do amazing jobs and leave great results.
