I recently bought my first real tractor...a B7500. The first time I fuelled it, I had a large puddle under the tractor. I tore the dash apart to find the fuel sender was loose and leaking. I tightened the bolts and no issue since.

The odd thing though is when the gauge shows empty, I fill it and can only get 2.5 gal (10L) into it. It’s supposed to have a 2.5 gal (20L) tank. I thought I misread something on the first tank, but confirmed it yesterday on the second tank.

Any ideas?

I cannot find a WSM for your tractor nor the preceding model.

The following suggestions are generic:

Remove sending unit from tank or if you can see it through the filler hole, move the float down with a stiff wire now that the tank is full.

You need to move it through its full travel to see if the meter end is working correctly.

The sending unit is just a variable resistor which changes a tiny amount of current which flows through the dash gauge.

Your B7500 is definitely a 5 gallon tank (at least mine is). My fuel gauge is relatively accurate although it takes a while to respond to the correct level when the ignition is turned on.

I understand how the sender and gauge work, and that’s what is confusing me. If the float is flooded, I should never get a “full” tank....the float can’t change buoyancy based on tank level.

I’ll try the wire in the tank to push it down...not going through the major hassle of tearing the dash off again!

I’m glad I have this issue instead of “no fuel at half a tank”!

Betting someone has changed the Fuel sending unit and has installed the wrong one. ;)
