Not that it makes a difference to HST to gear units but please, someone, measure the length from the dipstick seat to the upper of the oil level? Pretty please? Some years back the seat slipped on the dipstick and I'm and just guessing. I'm sure it's too full from where I guessed. Not that I've had a problem but I am sure I'm over filling it. If this is the biggest problem I have today I am fortunate: I hired a father/son team of guys a week ago. We don't have many choices. They wagged their heads that they understood but did exactly the wrong thing. I don't have them service my equipment. Bwhh-hahh.

I could go to about any shop and get a native of the U.S. and they would be about as brain dead.

OK, back to the dipstick....

Here is the info - I hope it is what you need

3" mark at stopper to deck - full mark at 5 5/8"

So - 2 5/8 down from top on level ground is full ;)

( THis is on an HST model btw)

Thanks for the pix. I've always wondered what the 537 and 364 meant. Different models? And the other marks?? Looks like I guessed close enough to just use the top mark for full when level:

@JRHill

I think there is only two actual LINES on the dipstick. The very upper one is “full” and the very lowest one is “low”.

The rest of the stamped marks is a part number = 15371-36411. But that is not the part number you would be able to buy. It is some stock part number for the factory when they built the engine.

But the ones do look like some line also!

I've only had this machine for 34 years and it was 15-20 years old when I got it so I thought I should figure this out. Especially when the stopper slipped on the stem.

I can't say it's kept me up at night. :unsure:
