Giving the old girl a well earned end-of-season service. To change the transmission oil the handbook shows two drain plugs either side of the transmission housing, one of which holds the suction pipe in, and the strainer. Found these OK. However there's another drain plug (I assume that's what it is) further forward on the clutch housing, about eight inches backward of the engine sump plug. As the gearbox and transmission are supposed to be linked oil-wise, do I need to drain out of this plug as well? (I don't think I've drained the stated capacity of oil yet)

It common to have 3 drain plugs. Usually one about the middle of the transmission and one on either side of the rearend housing.

There are four drain plugs on my gear driven L3400. Two located center of gear box on bottom fore and aft and there are two more, one on each side of rear axle.
