Hi I have just brought a B7000 circa 1979. I was using a rear slasher (mower) and after about 10 mins of mowing I noticed some steam coming coming out near the front RH wheel:confused:. After further inspection I found the it was coming from The over flow hose from the radiator but this hose wasn't connected to an overFlow bottle ( I thought that this was a little strange) the radiator was almost dry but it was full when I started to mow ( I checked it). Just wondering if it should have an overflow bottle or not. If it should have one where would I find one:p. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

My tractor is of similar vintage and does not have an overflow bottle either. Mine has a steel whistle on the end of the overflow hose and a sticker that says to stop work and refill the radiator when the whistle blows.

Have you checked that you are getting airflow through the radiator? Do you have a screen in front of the radiator? They can become clogged pretty easily when mowing tall stuff. I would make sure they are both clean. A hose will work, but be careful not to bend the fins.

I would also pressure test the cap and make sure it still seals and functions correctly.

My old B7100 did the same thing yours did. After making sure the radiator was clean, flushing the cooling system and refilling it with new coolant it turned out to be a bad radiator cap. Put a new cap on and never had another problem.

yup pretty common for stuff that era and older, even for cars. make sure to check your belt too. last time my b7200 did that it was a worn out belt that i didn't notice, generator was maxed out on adjustment and the belt was slipping so it wasn't turning that or the water pump as good as it should have, get down to idle and my charge light and over heat light would come on.

Thanks to everyone who gave me help on this one. I flushed the radiator out and refilled the coolant. I also blow out all the crap from the fins ( there was a lot of dirt and grass stuck in it) and I also invested in a new rad cap. Seems to have done the trick as I mowed tall grass for about one and a half hours with no problem. Thanks again to everyone who helped out
Cheers
