There is several ways to get the frost plugs out, one is to just push one edge in and they will flip then you can pull it out, they can't fall in as there is not enough clearance.
Another very good method is to drill a small hole and use a dent puller to remove them.
On my L3450 I had to get medieval and use a sharp chisel to get it out.
