Hi all,
I recently purchased a B6000 4WD tractor and because of excessive wear, I had to replace the broken left front axle U-joint and also the U-joint on the pinion shaft. Thanks to East Coast Andy for sharing his experience of his axle repair. The pictures were especially helpful. I bought a new oil seal for the pinion shaft but I cant get the nut off. I thought about clamping the pinion shaft end gear in a vise between two pieces of wood and using my impact wrench to undo the nut, but if I break the shaft, its $755.00 to replace the pinion shaft AND ring gear. They must be replaced as a set.
Any advice on how to remove the nut safely would be appreciated.
