I had been using my backhoe and loader for several days. Today I removed the Hoe and installed the 3PH arms. Then I removed the loader, installed suitcase weights, and attached my mower to the 3PH. After a couple of hours of mowing, I was mowing a steep embankment, backing up to it and having the mower articulate up the hill. I noticed that the 3PH was raising slowly and, after several passes, I couldn't get the 3PH to raise at all.

I drove to my garage, and looked for obvious problems. Didn't find any. Then I tried attaching the loader. The bucket will dump and curl but up and down do not work. Suggestions?

That description generally indicates an interruption in the power beyond circuit. The loopback hose connection for the backhoe would be my first suspect.

Unplug the backhoe feed hose then plug it back in to make sure it’s seated all the way properly. Also, check your hydraulic oil level and make sure you haven’t lost fluid.

Thanks, Dan. I did several tests with my loader and backhoe. The hose from the PB port on the loader valve delivers pressure to the backhoe. It seems like the problem is either the pipe/hose that feeds the TPH or the TPH itself. The mower flipped up to a steep angle when I backed up to an embankment. I am wondering if that could force the lifter beyond its limit and damage it internally. I am going to check the return line but I expect I will wind up taking the TPH hydraulics apart. Stay tuned.

Before diving in too deep try some simple tests. Start with the loader issue.

Remove the QC on the PB feed to the backhoe and route that open PB hose/pipe to the transmission filler. Start the tractor and test the loader.

If the loader starts working something is blocking the flow going to the 3pt valve (QC???) or the 3pt valve itself is blocking.

If the loader does not start working the problem is upstream of the BH.

Eureka! I performed the the test with the PB feed into the filler hole and the loader worked. I was taught, by an auto-mechanic friend, to "Always try the simple things first". So I removed the pipe/hose that runs from the QC to the hydraulic cylinder (3PH lift), removed the male QC from it, and snaked it. It was free. I had just changed the male QCs for the loader (one or more were leaking) so I decided to swap one into the problem at hand. Bingo! The loader and 3PH are working. Thank you very much!

Very excellent!!! Those symptoms are very common. What this site needs is a FAQ and this problem would be high on the hit list.
