Contemplating going from 650 pound 3x3x8 rectangle bales that have spiked in price to 5x5 rounds at 1200 pounds. Just wondered if anyone had used a B2301/B2601 with a rear bale spear to move them around? No stacking or high lifting needed, just wanna be able to pack them against the barn.

Thanks y’all!

I've got a 2601. The manual says it will lift 1411lbs 24 inches behind the arms.

Try it. Worst that will happen is it won't.

Just make sure you have some counterweight on the front end.

If you do it be sure and post the photo.

I’m going for it, gonna get a couple delivered next week and I’ll post some pictures! Worst case scenario, I text one of the neighbors with a skiddy to come help me but I don’t want it to be common practice if I can’t manage them with my equipment!

My wood chipper with 2 saws and some tools is over 800lbs and my B2601 3 point lifts it no problem.

There's a video on YouTube comparing the 2601 to the 2025R. It's put out by Good Works Tractors.

In the video, he puts a weight box on the 3pt of the 2601, puts 1500lbs in it and lifts it up.

I think you will be able to lift the 1200lbs.

Looking forward to hearing your results.

As promised….. I put 200 pounds of weight in the front bucket as a precautionary move and only needed to lift to 5 on the 3 point control and moved these around like nothing!

Excellent, congratulations.

Maybe it's the angle of the photo, but that bale looks as big as the tractor.

A 5' bale wrapped to 48" is probably closer 800-850# this time of year, but your tractor is handling it just fine.

If you're feeding horses you can set them up on end and unwrap them by hand like a cinnamon roll and feed as much as you need. Much less expense compared to small squares.

the mixed grass ones were late season right at the 800lbs mark, but the rye is from May and certainly had more weather weight in them!

Really pleased with how the B2301 handled them!

We have a small heard of miniature Hereford we rotate and with their low consumption we’re gonna fork into a trailer for them as needed! Always reducing waste since it’s really just for fun and beef!
