own B1750 - when turn key to preheat position the Electrical and Oil Pressure lights come on but not the Glow plug light. When I continue to turn key tractor will not start. dead. When I put hand on side left side of console there seems to be a slight vibration during this time.
However if I start from the completely off position, turn the key quickly all the way to the start position, all three lights go on and the tractor will start but labors to do so, plus darker smoke than when preheated. Would suspect glow plugs or switch. I am not mechanically inclined however feel capable to replace if either is bad. Any suggestions.

First check all those connections under the dash - that in itself can be a fun task!;)

Sounds off the top of my head - your switch is at fault. - the dark smoke is from fuel not being burned on a cold start up. The fact that it does not light the glow plugs in the key setting, could be a bad glow plug too. But the glow plugs are fairly easy to test with a VOM.

Here is a place to get a switch - if it is at fault, and this fixes it - it would be a fairly cheap fix.
