I've never owned a tractor until I was given this little L175. My question is which PTO gear is best for bushhogging? Hi or Low? I have a 4ft. Howse cutter but don't know anything about running a bush hog. Thanks in advance.

Depends on what you're cutting. Keep the engine and PTO speed consistent and adjust ground speed as needed
Probably low

I have a l1500, And I have a Howse rotary mower. I use 1st PTO gear with 5-6' tall grass with no problem. I use 2nd gear PTO with shorter grass, again with no problem. G

The tractor PTO output speed should be matched to the equipment required input speed. You do not want to overspeed the attached equipment.

Most mowers are 540 RPM and they should not be run at higher speeds unless you are will to risk failing and having parts come un-attached.

There should be a mark on the tractors tachometer where the tractor RPM will give the correct PTO speed. Run the tractor at that speed.
