Aiming the forks.

Been using the forks alot lately. Because the hood is in the way. I have a hard time seeing well enough to position the forks in or under the pallets without multiple attempts. Have to stand up or sometimes even get out of the cab to check. It helps if the load is stacked high enough to see the forks. Anyone have any tricks or tips? Anyone use a camera? Thanks.

I ordered the camera from Amazon and the bracket from Paul & Kathy. I plan on using the forks a lot on my new L and don't want to be poking holes in my product. My fabrication skills are 0 for this kind of thing and I've bought from them before and was pleased with their parts.

Interested to hear what others have to say.

For me, I stand up just long enough to get the forks in/out. My L will creep in low range without shutting down so if it’s just one or two, I’ll creep it while standing. If it’s more than a couple, I temporarily disable the seat switch by holding it down with a piece of wooden paint stir stick binder clipped to a bracket for something or other that’s so convenient it almost seems designed for that purpose.

I have no problem with fine control of the treadle pedal while standing. Still usually keep it in low range while standing.

I have a wireless camera that is mounted on a strong magnet and is powered by a Dewalt 12v battery mounted on another strong magnet. The camera displays on a monitor in the cab. When using forks I place the camera and battery on the fork frame looking at the forks. When using my 3 point stump grinder I stick the camera on the frame of the grinder showing the wheel/stump. The monitor is multi channel and there are two other cameras, one mounted high on the back of the cab as a backup camera and one mounted just above the 3 point to aid in lining up implements.

I use a backup camera when I use my tree sheer. I had the same problem with vision.

Paint the fork tips. I stand up as well to see better. One of the reasons I "modified" the seat switch.
