Wow. Just found the Fab and Custom threads. Very cool. I have been slowly working my way through the threads and can't believe I missed them before.

I am sure it has already been discussed, but am curious what the general consensus is on adding additional instruments on the tractor. I would really like to add a Water Temperature and Oil Pressure gauge and perhaps even an Oil Temperature gauge. I guess Voltage would be nice too. It just bugs me to wonder what is happening under the hood and I don't like to assume that all is well.

What have others done? Has anyone purchased any of the "mini" gauge sets from Harbor Freight? Any serious gauge panels added using Autometer or other higher end sets?

Any tips on where to plumb in the sending units?

Interested to see what you have done and ready to do something with mine as well.

Can only offer tips on the oil pressure. You can use the existing oil pressure idiot light sending unit port. Unplug the sending unit and if the light comes on, jumper it. You can remove the existing sending unit and use that port to thread in a new fitting. Throw the white plastic tubing that comes with the gauge away and plumb it with copper tubing. The plastic tubing will not survive the UV rays and WILL give it up in a year or so and when it does, it will be a HOT day and you will be very far from the house.....ask me how I know....

I am about to do the very same job on my B7100.

I picked up a new and boxed tacho/hour meter from a L1501 it also got the standard oil pressure lamp also charge lamp.
I wanted to fit a water 12v temp gauge on it also as the D850 i have fitted now has the temp sender allready fitted in the thremostat housing ready to hook upto, so, the plan is to remove the standard hour meter i have at present fitted in the instument panel, and, replace it with the water temp gauge.
then fit the tacho unit just beneath the panel at an angle so its is clearly visible but not in the way.
I have seen several b7100 and similar models including this pic i have added with this setup under the dash.

This will also make it easier with the tacho cable routing.

if you have a B6100 you should also be able to do a similar fitment without to much unwanted cutting of panel etc.

good luck

a few pics.

I've added a few guages to my tractor but found some of them didn't last long. I guess you get what you pay for. I'm happy to report I did find a company that makes top quality guages, great to deal with, lifetime warranty and their product do work and last.
Check them out.
