I have a L3400DT and the pair of start-stop safety switches underneath the transmission speed and direction selector plate are damaged. These switches prevent the tractor from being started in gear, only allowing it to be started in neutral.
Both micro switches were damaged, so I first tried wiring the 2 wires on each switch to themselves to close the circut but nothing turned over when I tried the key. Then I tried wiring each pair of wires though each of there own toggle switches, when I did this I was able to get the motor to turn over but it still won't start.
Am I able to run those switches through a toggle as opposed to there original micro switch ? With my toggles I am able to eliminate the engine from turning over with the key when the toggle makes the circuit open, and when the toggle is turned on and the circuit is closed to 0 zero ohms the engine turns over with the key turned.
Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong? thanks in advance for your time.

Ok - as an electrical guy......this is making my brain hurt a second, and my wife wants me to hurry up and do something for her:D:)...so I aint got time to think!

will both old switches still work in your hand? What we need to know is are they NORMALLY open or normally CLOSED switches - without going through the entire wiring diagram.......any way for you to test the old switches? Then you can wire accordingly.:)

Switches are normally open when not being depressed. When Trans is in neutral switches are closed and register 0 ohms.
I rechecked the switch orientation and everything checks out.....0 ohms when on , infinity when off. It almost seems like fuel problem and not a start -stop issue anymore.??

What is the easiest way to check fuel delivery during cranking....during start up with key turned to the start position...?

Thanks in advance for any help and your time.

My good friend who is a diesel Mechanic told me the best way to test fuel delivery, is to Crack a connection at the injection connection point a 1/4 turn and see if diesel pulses out when cranking. Any ideas from a Kubota expert....is greatly appreciated....thx in advance

On any diesel, except maybe a DPF system tractor. Check for smoke coming out the exhaust.

And yes cracking an injector line will work to see if it's getting fuel. Does your tractor shut off by the key or do you pull a stop button to shut it off?

Shuts off by the key.... I'm going to 1/4 losen an injection supply at the block....not the pump, tomorrow....any more input is GREATLY APPRECIATED. I KNOW THAT it's late on a Sunday...maybe I'll get some more input tomorrow, Thx as always in advance for you time and consideration :)

How about the smoke, coming from the exhaust yes or no?

Because if you have a key shutoff, then if the system has been bled properly.

Then I would highly suspect the fuel solenoid or the power going to it. And you may want to check the fuel pump. I don't have the information here in front of me for the parts breakdown so it could have a mechanical or electrical pump.

I have a diagram of the fuel system and there is no fuel solenoid. It is the fuel camshaft that actuates the
Injection pump and force feeds fuel to the injection nozzle.

Yes, you have a fuel shut off solenoid! But hopefully it's just the fuel filter.

The solenoid shuts off the rack in the injection pump which it turns off the fuel.

Ok here it goes, I replaced the filter and Bleed the system using the bleeder valve on the injection Pump. I was told by the service rep at the dealer that if I don't get fuel coming out of the bleeder valve after 3 tries at 20 second intervals turning the engine over, that the problem was something else

I don't know what else to check, any suggestions ?

As always thanks for any time and expertise you can spare
