Can anyone suggest a simple Trencher that Fits 3 Point? The cable only needs to be just under the grass as it's a CAT5E about a 250 feet run.

There are a lot of rippers on amazon to pick, i can't weld so i half to buy something and it's not something that would get used hardly ever.

If this is a one off install, for that price, I'd just rent a walk behind trencher.

^^^^^^

Agreed.

That is what I ended up doing recently. Rental was $230.00 a day.

Soil is hard red clay and Iron Ore. Still only took me 30 minutes to make a 100' run.

Rental company refunded me $50.00 upon return because it only took me a few hours total to go to town, trench and return.

Trencher was highly manuverable and allowed me to dig right up to
both the start and end points.

Trenched dirt was easily to backfill.

As noted above if this is a one time use then a rental is the way to go. The problem I have around here is a lack of rental places less than an hour + drive each way.

If you think you may have future uses for a subsoiler Titan Attachments has a fairly good reputation.
Their subsoiler is $350 and with the pipe layer adds an extra $140. The pipe layer separately is $200 so you're saving $60 by buying the combo - but still almost $500.

Disclaimer: I do not have, and have not used, either of these but a subsoiler is on my wish list for some future projects on my to-do list. The most dangerous words my wife can say - "I've been thinking..." - always cost me time and money. 😖

Good luck and post some photos with what you decided to go with either way when you do the project.

I can see using it a few times and like you there are no rental places close by, there is one a hour away so back and forth there goes two hours easy.

I have a camera obsession so if i always had the tool i would probably put up more cameras. :)

I have never heard of Titan Attachments my worry is it hits a rock and just bends. Tractor supply sells one for about the same price.

I recall some subsoilers have a center beam which is quite long.

Can be a problem for small subcompact tractors, as the 3 point hitch won’t lift the point enough to get it out of the ground, or very little clearance.

Remember it more with BX tractors, but something to look at for your B2650. It is quite a bit larger than a BX.

You want it for Cat 5 just under the grass?
Pressure washer.
Or
Chain saw.
Or
Flat blade hand shovel and a 14 year old.

I have a subsoiler that's been used several times to loosen the ground. My L4240 won't pull it at anything near full depth here. When my parents wanted power to a shed maybe 100' away from their house I rented a walk-behind trencher for 1/2 day at a local hardware store. It made a nice clean trench and as Flintknapper said the finely chopped excavated material was nice for backfilling.

Or
Take your box blade and remove all rippers but one. Set it as deep as you can and tilt the box for extra depth. Rip it good. Then after, hire the 14 year old to clear out the trench. Might make a mess of your grass tho.

We used these, vibrating plow pullers, but on a much larger scale for golf course construction back in the 80's and 90's. Ours were ride on, big machines. Vermeer brand I think it was.

You might be able to rent a small walk behind unit.

Very little damage to the grass.

lot of good ideas makes me wonder if a edger would work?

I have a echo power head that takes all kinds of different heads and one is a edger.

I pulled one of these with my Polaris Ranger. I can get about a foot deep. I'm probably going to put it in my ballast box next time I use it on the tractor. We were just running a bit of PVC to keep from leaving a hose across the hard. I blow the line out for winter.

NOTE: the actual one I bought is no longer available.
