Anyone ever mount an R1 7/12 tire on 7" wide rim instead of the 5" wide Kubota specs, will save me having to replace the rims.

I dont see any problem installing a wider tire on that rim, unless it gives you a clearance issue. One thing to watch is the footprint once tire is inflated to pressure. May need to lower pressure a tad to keep entire width of tire in contact with the ground.

As long as it's not 4 wheel drive and you can get the beads seated it will
"fit" but it won't be the right fit and won't last very long because it will
start cracking prematurely at the bead. It's a simple matter of stretching it
to far and like what was mentioned have to play with the air pressure to try
and the it to have a better contact area. Be very careful and do not exceed
the maximum air pressure or it will split the casing if it's to high.

Thanks Tired Guy, I'm gonna need some rims then, anybody have the scoop on new or used rims, can trade 12x7 for some 12x5, will even let you have the tires on them, 23x8.5-12 Deestone.
Kubota part #6C040-50240 for the 12x5 rims

Rooster,
I need to remind you about keeping the "correct" size in rolling circumference
when changing tire sizes. Just because the "book" says a tractor can come
with a certain size tire simply doesn't make it "so". Most of the time when you
go from one size to another listed BOTH front and rear sizes MUST be changed.

I came back to the post to see if you had figured it out when it dawned on me you were changing sizes, so unless you've verified that both sizes you're working with have a compatible rolling circumference within the 2% allowance it will cause you problems with binding up and breaking expensive parts. Assuming it's okay is not good enough you must make sure. You must get the
rolling circumference specs from the manufacturer in order to compare them.
I can tell you with absolute certainty that a Goodyear brand 7-12 R1 tire is
absolutely not the same rolling circumference as the BKT brand. In fact they
aren't even close they're night and day difference.

You can measure the rolling circumference of the tires you have now on the
tractor easily then compare that number when shopping for new tires to make
sure they work. If you email me I can send you a rough draft explanation with
a picture to tell you how to measure it. cwtireal@gmail.com

Yes sir I am changing from R4 to Ag and have the Goodyear 11.2-16 rears and have purchased 7-12 Goodyear's for the front, that's why I was asking about rim width as the tires are 6.8" in width, but Kubota does spec 5x12 rims.
Your are very right about the BKT, they are 29" dia verse's Goodyear are 24" dia and besides that the BKT are a crappy looking tire.
