I only have 11.7 hrs. experience so go easy on me.
Below my seat is a knob. I rarely ever touch it. I did have to to get my center mow deck to raise and lower. I looked it up and found that it is the throttle for the rear 3 pt.
My question is, when and why would I ever use that?

Thanks

It simply slows or quickens the down movement OF the 3 point .......... does not change the UP speed.

Great for box blade or rear blade.

It simply restricts the fluid movement so it slows the downward motion - if that is what you want.

It controls how fast the 3pt will lower. Sometimes you might have a lot of weight on it and want it to lower slower than when it doesn't have any weight at all. It is a good idea to turn it once in a while as it has a tendency to get stuck over time if not moved. Mine locked up on my BX it took a bit to get it unstuck.

I have nothing to add to the above . . . .except - the three point raises under hydraulic power. It lowers by gravity, no power down. The valve under discussion controls the lowering speed.

thanks guys. the fact that it lowers under gravity had me a little confused as to the purpose but it makes sense now.
