Hello to all, I own a 1997 B2100 with only 730 hrs on the clock. Over time the control valve for the 3 pointy hitch has become problematic. I have to turn the knob many times in [sorry did not count the turns} before it locks the pressure in the piston . I can lower it smoothly but the margin is extremely narrow as it will release the hitch in less than a 1/8 turn .
Looking at my manual it appears that the valve poppet and spring are the problem . From the diagrams it appears also that the rod, poppet and spring can be removed and replaced without having to disassemble the entire hitch housing.
I have not attempted it and welcome suggestion or advice from anyone who has . The literature and manuals available to me from kubota do not specifically mention whether it can be done as simply as unscrewing the packing barrel and thereby pull out the poppet and spring.
The hitch function okay , it goes full up and down , but the rate of drop is a bit too fast when i turn the knob under the seat and because of it the raise and lower lever is also affected .
I inquired about this at the only Kubota dealer within 65 miles from my residence and was told that to diagnose and repair could end up costing me thousands ... politely I said no thanks ..I can live with it as is .
When all my projects are done by summer`s I will likely attempt removing the unit , there is nothing in that top end that should cost hundreds let alone thousands ..I value opinions , especially owners who have successfully made their own repairs .
I offer my sincere gratitude to any one who may respond as I described early on .
