Engine turns but no compression. Can this engine be saved? Is there anything I can check to find the problem? They no longer make this engine.

Only one cylinder and no air coming out.

These engines had a problem with getting gasoline in the oil when operated in colder climates. Have you checked that and changed the oil? These were built by Subaru,

Duhhhhhhh, you have an RTV400, but I was thinking of an RTV500 which has a 2-cylinder engine.
Have you removed the rocker cover and checked that the valves are opening and closing?

You can also remove the sparkplug, insert a stick of bronze rod through the hole resting it on the top of the piston, and turn the engine over by hand. If the piston does not move you have a broken connecting rod.
