Sorry if this has already been addressed but I couldn't find a match. I have a somewhat new to me 2008 L3240 HSTC with 1400 hours. The tractor will only turn up to a max of 25000 -26000 RPMS. When cutting grass with a 6' finishing mower (or doing anything for that matter) the tractor will slow to a almost crawl and RMPs drop to around 19000. I changed all the fuel filters and hydraulic filers and fluid. does anyone have any idea what may be happening or what I need to check?
Tractor seems to run fine just has no power in low or Med. I am wondering if I have a possible injector problem. I never hear any type of governor change in the motor.

I think that engine is rated around 2700 RPM at 540 PTO. What is the transmission in when mowing? You have high, medium, low....then there is a lever on the left of the steering wheel you can flip up (or down) like a turn signal lever and get a higher or lower range.

Sounds like you're mowing in high gear! Don't.

That engine and transmission is computer controlled. Start by getting a copy of the owners manual and reading about the different transmission modes.

Also familiarize yourself with the operation of the HST pedal. It does not wirk like an accelerator pedal. Pressing harder when the engine is loaded and slowung down will not get you higher RPM. Just the opposite.

The engine is normal mechanical injection not computer controlled. ;)

Have you checked the air cleaner?
Have you read the OM on the auto throttle control setup?

yes Sir, I have done a complete service on the tractor. I am mowing in low and Med gear with the HST MODE set. Doesn’t matter if I run it in slow (turtle) or fast (rabbit) it will slow to a complete crawl (2 mph) when going through any grass (weeds) over 4- 6 inches tall or going up a slight incline. While the HST is somewhat new to me I have 5 other tractors and have been farming my whole life so I do understand the concept of how it should operate.

Have you read and digested the HST Plus section of the Operator's msnual?

I am not talkkng about the injection system.

I am talking about HST Plus which is a computer controlled (ECU) transmission and throttle system.

Dan
I get what your going for, but the L3240HSTC has a 100% mechanical throttle and throttle advance.
It's all cable controlled.
The electrical control did not get implemented till the LXX60 series.
It will still help if the OP has an understanding of how the auto throttle and the auto advance works.

This sounds like metaphysical semantics to me.

I dont know the details about the implementation but it requires an ECU and presumably the ECU controls those cables via servos of some sort. . Its done without operator action and on the basis of sensor inputs to the ECU. Similar to the electric power steering on my G series lawn tractors. Both are computer controlled in my book

In any event J dont think the OP has a full grasp of how that system is managed from the seat.
