2601 or 2650

For me it was the size. The price didn't really come into play after sitting on them. I was replacing a NH 1620 and wanted a similar size. I wanted the HP of the 3350 but did not want to deal with the DPF.

Same here. I had a BX23 since 2006. It was a great machine and I made some great money with it. I moved to a larger property and knew I needed a larger, more capable machine. Sitting side by side, the B2601 really didn't look or feel all that much larger than the Bx. I intended to find a B3350 SU but the dealer refused to sell me one, and I'm thankful for his candor.

The larger B featured more creature comforts, larger tires/better ground clearance, loader/BH specs were significantly better (to me anyway). I have a need for a hoe, and the BH77 has quite a bit more capability than the hoe that comes with the BXX01 series.

I had also considered the L'01 series since the difference in price was almost nil. However, I wanted something lighter in weight as I have very soft ground and was looking for a machine better suited to landscaping tasks. I felt the large B checked all of those boxes.

As you said Skeets, the difference in price is less than approx 10% of the cost and I didn't want to regret my decision later in wishing I had opted for the larger unit.

You only go around once, take them both for a spin and get whatever floats your boat. Be happy.

I only have 6 acres so I when the with the b2601 for it’s smaller size, 3 yrs. later couldn’t be happier.

Skeets - I have a BX2360 like you.

It’s been a while since I looked at B’s but I think the B2650 is probably just a little too big for my yard for mowing. Too much stuff to get around in steep places. I know you have orchard trees.

If I didn’t mow, I’d probably go 2650. But I need to mow....

B2601 for mowing its huge compared to the BX1880 my wife wouldn't let me buy. I have the 60" MMM deck mowing time is cut in 1/2 over using Cub Cadet 50" deck.

If using for snow blowing/snow removal the B2650 Cab option would come into play.

I mow my back yard with the B2650 and a mmm. It has a better turning radius than my old, much smaller Ingersoll AND power steering. Goes around flower beds fine. If you get the cab you might have to trim some branches though. Sure nice to mow in ac and clear snow where it is warm. Never mind being practical. Get one with a cab.

It was all set on getting a BX2380 until I sat on the B2601 , it felt perfect for me and it fits my property perfect ! I never really considered the B2650

my 2650 has the LA534 loader. The newer LA535 loader can be outfitted with additional parts to make it self leveling. Keeps material from spilling out of bucket when lifting and super useful with pallet forks. Messicks has a video on this new loader.

I had used my dad's BX for several years and wanted more lift and digging power. The 2650 was a bigger jump in size and the BH was much more capable for what I needed. I don't mow with, I use a ZT, so the 2601 really didn't have any advantages for my use. If I needed the tractor to mow, it would have been a tougher decision.

Skeets, after 30 some years my ’85 JD750MFWD was showing signs of age and with repair parts getting scarce I decided to look at new tractors. I was thinking Kubota and was set on the B2601 by looking at the online literature. It appeared it would replace my 20HP JD750 nicely. But when at the dealership it looked terribly small and the B2650 looked like a giant next to it (in my mind anyway). But looking carefully at the specs and dimensions of each, the B2650 was almost identical to what I was replacing. I just couldn’t see going down in size (physically) from what I had. Plus, gaining the extra HP would be another benefit. The backhoes were almost identical with the B2650’s nosing out the #7JD hoe by a slim margin.

For the small difference in price, I opted for the B2650. I mow with my existing Bush Hog RTDH60 and it works splendidly behind the Kubota. The small turning radius makes mowing around the yard and trees that I have a breeze. No problems with tearing up the lawn. You can eliminate a lot of unnecessary work around the trees by planning your mowing pattern and/or just backing up with the hydrostatic drive into harder to reach areas. And the rear finish mower is so easy to drop and change with another implement. I do drop the bucket off for mowing but so far haven’t found the need to drop the loader off as it gets used so much between mowing.

Here’s a few pics to show the size comparison between the old and the new. Just looking at pictures online can be deceiving. You really do need to go and get a hands on look at what you’re about to purchase. I would’ve really considered the factory cab version but with all the trees and some steeper ditch banks to mow that was out of the question.

For my needs, I would've regretted getting the smaller B2601. And I have no regrets about mowing with the B2650 whatsoever.
