The seasoning was pretty close to the same as the crawfish. I've had crawfish many times. My issue is the work to get the little bit of meat out. I feel the same about crab legs as well. I like the meat, not the work. :rolleyes: For my wife, and quite a few other people, the thought of eating a crawfish gross them out :D

We can get fresh shrimp, deveined and shelled at the local grocery store. So all you gotta do is cook them up :D

When I was in the restaurant business, I hated peeling shrimp. I buy it peeled and deveined myself now if I'm doing quantities..

I don't need more practice....:)

When I was in the restaurant business, I hated peeling shrimp. I buy it peeled and deveined myself. I don't need anymore practice....:)
Wife was over the crawfish when she saw someone bite the head off and suck out the shell :eek: That was a little much for me as well. To me, the tail is the same as a shrimps. Same texture, just smaller, being about half the size of a jumbo shrimp.

Birthday dinner for the Mrs.

BBQ Shrimp (I had to peel the little F#$%ers ..still don't need practice.. :eek:)
Sirloin steak from our local Highlander cross
Butternut squash
Grill-roasted broccoli

The BBQ sauce for the shrimp is Olive oil, chili sauce, worchestershire, lemon juice, garlic, tabasco, oregano, seasoned salt...good stuff. ;)

I just went through all 5 years/15 pages of this thread...man, we have some great cooks here...and some cool cooking equipment. John T's refrig-a-smoker is ingenious...complete with the Caddy hood ornament.:D

Given I like to cook, this is one of my favorite threads. Stands to reason, since I started it.:)

There's so much different stuff from different regions, as well as game, etc.

I'd forgotten about it, but still am intrigued by edritchey's hogmaw...:)

Sounds yummy. Wife and I went to Destin Fl recently. On recommendations from a coworker we looked up this restaurant. Their seafood is locally sourced. They actually have 3 locations. 2 are fancy sit down restaurants, with a beach attire dress code.

The original restaurant that we went to is a shack on the water. Eat at picnic tables on the dock and order at a counter. Drive through a trailer park to get to it. They had an orange/ mango glaze that they used on the grilled shrimp. I would kill for the recipe of that glaze :D

Dewey Destins (Bay Side). if you Google it with bay side after the name on your phone it will bring it right up. It's a must visit if your down that way.

Just a pot of soup. Potatoes, carrots and parsnips from our garden. The wife boiled down the bones from the Prime Rib last weekend and just adds to it. Probably finish it with my moms home made egg noodles for a little filler.

Old dish I grew up with Hot pepper codfish my wife don't make it as good as my Grandmother did but it's still one of my favorite ways to eat dried codfish.

These are “mashed potato” squash. Never heard of them until last week.
Steamed/Roasted first, then mashed with the roasted garlic that I put in oven in a little foil packet.
I didn’t get a picture of the final product until after supper....
Holy smokes...they were excellent!!
They taste like garlic mashed potatoes. [emoji41]
