Sorry about the delay in getting back. Yes, got it running. Running and sounds good. Not sure what the noise was, maybe something rubbing or hitting the fan??? "How did I get it running?" Once I got the battery cables on right, the glow plugs worked and it started right up. I put new...

Thanks for the info. I do know about the dyno. Did not know that it was ac however. My manual refers to it as an alternator. I have not checked the voltage yet but on my list of todos.

Got it running. What a relief but feel pretty stupid... Not sure what was making the noise. Glow plugs working... running great. Thank you all for the assistance.

Hope I'm doing this correctly. I have another idea to float. As I said earlier, was having problems with the glow plugs and discovered that the battery was hocked up backwards, i.e., pos and neg reversed. I took the battery out to access the glow plug controller\glow thing. I replace...

I will check it out more tomorrow. I did note when I started it the first time, the glowplug controller glowed some after about a minute but my concern is that the red glowplug light was on when I released the glowplug switch (switch on the key). Before, it always came off when I...

It has to be something internal engine to keep it from starting.

I did spin the fan...no noted issues!/problems Obviously, I held the couch in to start it. As I recall, I never released it as it happened so fast...but not sure...

Also, while trying to start it, there was no noise so I am concluding that the engine firing/running was making the noise....not cranking it without it firing.....

Again, Turns over with no problem. I did note that there was white smoke while trying to start it. Also, I loosened the injector inlets and did see some fuel as I would expect. Am I correct that if it was getting fuel, without starting, there should be some black smoke vs the white smoke?

Again, it did not sound like there's anything in any of the cylinders. I see nothing from the outside of the engine but is it possible that it could have blown a head gasket? I looked around and see ,o evidence of that...

The engine will turn over ...no problems there but will not start.

The engine did not quit. I shut it down after making a loud scraping??? Like noise. It was not a clatter...kind of hard to explain. Sure sounded like something very bad...

If my assumptions are correct, engine running with glowplugs lit up, would that cause engine failure within a minute or so? And, what is the likely damage?

I did not change anything on /about the glowclubs other than %etting them to work via battery fix.

Here's what I think happened: After I shut down the engine, I turned the key on and noticed that the glow plug light was on. Not sure why/how... I think it somehow stayed on...got to hot..

The glowplug worked - started right up, ran good for about 2 minutes, then very ban noise in the engine. I shut it right down, now it won't start. It will turn over but I think the engine is toast. Not sure what to do now.
