    B6000 Front End Questions

Thanks! That makes sense. I don't have the skills necessary to disassemble and re-do the seals so I suppose I'll need to have this done locally and have all the grease points put back in order while I'm at it. I'm not terribly surprised given the condition of the B6000 when I got it.

    B6000 Front End Questions

Hi Everyone :) Bearing in mind I'm a rank amateur mechanically speaking, I recently decided to tackle some basic lubricating of the wee orange beastie. I now have more questions than answers..sigh. First thing is that I can't tell how much grease (if any) is getting into the zerks on the front...

The only damage was to my pride....

That makes total sense. My tires are the same...lots of tread left but numerous age cracks. I'm going to keep that in mind for down the road a while as I just don't see rims and tires offered up much used here in the valley...lot's of parts made of unobtainium as this gets older! I'm...

    Where is Your Tractor Kept?

During the crappy weather months mine is kept next door at my mother's place. She has an open two-car carport and only one side is used regularly anyway. In the late Spring, Summer and early Fall I keep it outside my place under a nice hemlock tree beside my shed and use a tarp if rain is in...

    Two Schools of Thought

I'm a first option guy until there's a darn good reason not to be...and that does happen from time to time..inevitable really. Same for lending although I usually try to judge whether they are a "use it until it breaks" kind of person. My brother-in-law was like that..he was a super guy and it...

The only damage was to my pride....

Yup..this is how the former owner had them mounted. Seemed wrong to have the axle not come flush with the hub but I'm thinking I should put it back this way.

The only damage was to my pride....

This is how the former owner had them mounted....dished out but axle recessed slightly... http://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=627&pictureid=3582

The only damage was to my pride....

Thanks for the weight recommendation...now I have something to shoot for. I think the little cement counterweight that's designed to hang on the 3 point is maybe 150 lbs at the most. The tires are being loaded today and I'm looking forward to checking it out once they are back on. Do you have...

The only damage was to my pride....

Hi there neighbour! :) When I got the B6000 it had partial amounts of calcium chloride already in them but not much. They are currently getting bio mix fully loaded on the recommendation of our local tire shop...doesn't corrode like the cc does apparently and gives you the same result. I was...

The only damage was to my pride....

I had Mission Towing ( the same featured on Highway Through Hell if you've ever watched that show ) come up and put it right. Once it was righted he had me fire it up and back up the slope while he had it under control. I was surprised that it fired up just like normal...the fender was a touch...

The only damage was to my pride....

Thanks Hodge...pretty embarrassed by the whole thing but ya...people...specially newbies like me need to know it happens in a heart-beat when it goes bad. I'm still pretty shaken.

The only damage was to my pride....

Thanks D2Cat...it was the out-of-control progression that took me onto the sloped area but your comments are well taken. Funny, my wife and I did a head-slap afterward and made the same observations about how silly it was not to just drag the thing instead of lifting it...ah hindsight! I'm...

The only damage was to my pride....

The tractor came with a cement counter-weight but it didn't seem a whole lot heavier than the 4' rear blade so I've stuck with that. It certainly could have been part of the problem now that you've pointed it out.

The only damage was to my pride....

First pic is the tractor on jacks...note the extra notches of the right hand jack. Next pic is of the front end which, with the tractor on jacks seems pretty symmetrical. Last pic is an earlier one of how the front end looks under "normal" circumstances ie: back tires on etc. Thoughts about...

The only damage was to my pride....

So...I debated about posting this but I really think it's a good idea to illustrate for others just how quickly the unthinkable can happen. My wife, son and I are disassembling a railway tie ( 7"x 9" ) retaining wall on our property and rebuilding it a few feet over. One of the old ties was in...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I added some DIY 2x4 forks to the bucket of my B6000 so I could move some old railway ties around the place today.

    It's Alive!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Some of you might remember my first post re: my new-to-me B6000 that came free with a Galaxy 500 I bought from a neighbour. Well...after spending some time at a friends where his son worked some magic....here she is! It took about 300 in parts and 700 in labour but it was SO...

1966 Galaxie 500 (came with the tractor)

Actually, until I saw it in the barn I didn't know anything about it other than it was a '66 Galaxie 500. My neighbour originally asked me if I knew anyone who might be interested and I said I would ask around. It was my wife who said we should take a look at it just for fun. When he swung the...

1966 Galaxie 500 (came with the tractor)

Ok..for those that wanted to see my new-to-me '66..here she is! :D The original 289 has been replaced with a performance-built 302 and there's new stainless exhaust front to back with Flowmaster Super 40 mufflers. Basically, the neighbours son took his grandfathers original locally bought...

    Yes..another newbie owner post.

Thanks for all the replies! First off, for the Galaxie lovers, I'll post a picture or two in the off-topic forum when I'm done here...she's going to be great fun to have! :D I have to admit I'm a bit surprised at the "scrap it" sentiment but I do get that sometimes life is too short to have...
