    rotten hoses

Two words - Tractor Supply I had a loader hose split last summer. Dealer wanted ~ $75, hydraulic shop could make one for ~ $50, Tractor Supply was ~$10. I couldn't believe the price difference.

    B670 Backhoe Buckets Revisited

I wouldn't cut the teeth off. If you're not really digging, but scraping, I'd build a shoe that covers the teeth. I built one for mine when I was scraping out the final grade in my barn and it works great.

Screw drive/cone log splitter/ making it safer

Re: Screw drive/cone log splitter The long orange pipe in JerryC999's picture is what the wood round is rested upon when pushed into the cone. The ground conditions have nothing to do with it. Lift the round, oriented with long axis roughly horizontal, set it on the pipe, slide the round up...

Just Bought L245DT. Need Advice for First Servicing.

The hydraulic filter is hidden inside the transmission case, down at the bottom, directly inline with the suction line. There is a cover down low opposite the suction line and a tubular screen filter inside. No dipstick, fill on top between the shifters and the seat, level plug is on the...

L245DT trailering info needed - help

Really depends what rear wheel offset you have. I'm going from the manual because it's raining and I'm too lazy to walk to the barn. Front is 41 7/8", rear ranges from 41 1/8" up to 55 3/4". My rears are at the max width and fits onto a standard car hauler just fine.

    Front rim broke! '77 L185DT

I may be accused of being a cheapskate, but I'd weld that back together and never think twice. Grind it clean and go for it. One of my front wheels shows previously welded cracks and washers to close up the sloppy holes and it's been holding fine since I've owned it.

Screw drive/cone log splitter/ making it safer

Re: Screw drive/cone log splitter I have one, it's called an "Unicorn Splitter" if I remember right. The labeling is long faded to being unreadable. Just like this one - http://billwlee.com/ag-equip/log-splitter/u219-used-unicorn-log-splitter-3-point-540-pto-power/ It works great...

    1977 245dt

Have you driven it since this started? Mine sounded like you describe once...it was running reverse rotation. Not sure if that's possible in your case, but I'll throw that out there.

    "New" L345 owner questions

How does holding the exhaust valves open change that situation? A running engine has hot valves and cold intake air coming in every time the intake valves open. Hard to believe holding he exhaust open a pinch somehow changes what the intake valves see. You can argue it's better to cut the...

L245dt Front End Loader Hyd pump driveshaft

Mine doesn't have an external pump, it runs off of the tractor hydraulics. Works just fine. Might be an option worth considering if you have trouble fixing what you have now.

    Oil pressure

I had a similar problem, replaced sensor and that fixed the light. Sometimes you get lucky and it turns out to be the easy fix.

    Kubota B5100 smoke

My preference for extracting broken off hardware is to weld a nut or washer onto what's left. I hate easy outs.

    Selecting a wood chipper

I have a Braber/Agri-Ease chipper that is a copy of a Wallenstein but at about half the price. They run $2K or less in my area. Works great, I'd buy again and recommend it to anyone in the market. http://braberequipment.com/Products?ProdCode=13066

ROPS too tall for my garage, convert to folding?

Can someone please post a pic of the paperwork that says you can't modify a tractor unless you assume responsibility for the potential accidents of future owners? Seriously, mine didn't come with that.

Old and in the Way - L245DT Progress

My L245DT only has one safety switch, that's on the clutch pedal. None on the seat. The wiring harness on mine has many unused wires meant for extra accessories mine doesn't have, yours may be similar. Glow plugs, turn the starter switch CCW and hold for ~1 minute before trying to start. I...
