Woods BH75 Hydraulic issue with main arm

Thanks D2Cat. Yeah they can repair - $150, which is less than getting a new one including shipping. Should have back by Friday. And yes Sammy3700, he said that inner nut is turning. Said he would have to "flex" the piston to freeze it and unscrew the rod retainer nut.

Good suggestion! Got one I get my hoses from.

Woods BH75 Hydraulic issue with main arm

That makes perfect sense, Sammy3700. I used a 4' cheater pipe on my vice and, used a punch & hammer in the spanner slots instead of the pipe wrench, figuring the wrench was probably 'squeezing' the outer nut. tight enough that the piston won't move in or out. Still nada. Guess I'm gonna have...

Woods BH75 Hydraulic issue with main arm

Thanks Jim L, I do have that manual. Tooljunkie, I huffed and buffed, grandma's house remained but still no set screw. It does appear there are threads on the inner endcap piece. I'm surprised no one has commented on my "clean" work bench:D

Woods BH75 Hydraulic issue with main arm

Yeah, me too. ToolJunkie really helped out to identify the issue. the compressed air trick says it is definitely the cylinder and not the control. Might have to order the whole cylinder if I can't get it apart. Dang, $200 vs $30 for the seal kit

Guess it was an optical delusion

Woods BH75 Hydraulic issue with main arm

I think you nailed it. Applied compressed air and, yeah it was blowing out the other connection when the piston reached it's limit. Ditto when reversing the air.

Woods BH75 Hydraulic issue with main arm

OK, ToolJunkie, that worked. cylinder responded both directions (minimal oil bath). So, does that point me to the control assy? I have a video, but too large. I noted that there was still "flow" from each connection after the piston reached it's limit. I would have thought that the seals...

Woods BH75 Hydraulic issue with main arm

Thx. Yeah, I really feel "lubricated". Will try this. $200 for the entire cylinder; not sure if this will fix, maybe something in the control

Thanks Lilfoot. was hopeful, but here is what I see.

Woods BH75 Hydraulic issue with main arm

Thanks Tooljunkie, and that makes sense. Been all around the end, and don't seem to find any retaining mechanism. Here's a 360 deg view of the piston end. Note the "teeth" marks on the rod holder endcap, Turns freely with pipe wrench. I agree there must be something else holding it - just...

    Thx. I'll keep you posted.

    L3010 Glow Plug Light

I've got a '99 L3010, and about a year ago, the glow plug console light started going out before starting. then after a few seconds, it comes on while the engine is running. Now it seems to have a mind of it's own, as it goes on an off randomly. Engine starts fine, although takes a little...

Woods BH75 Hydraulic issue with main arm

I got the boom cylinder off; trying to unscrew the rod guide (had to use pipe wrench). It turns (ccw) but doesn't appear to be doing anything. I've made probably 20 revolutions and still doesn't seem to have "unscrewed". Manual says there is a set screw, but I don't see one. Any clues? BTW...

Woods BH75 Hydraulic issue with main arm

I can hear fluid flowing when I release the handle and the boom just lowers to the ground. But no leaks. I assume there is a seal kit rather than replacing the whole cylinder?

Woods BH75 Hydraulic issue with main arm

Was removing some stumps and suddenly the vertical lift went limp. It lifts the arm but when you release, it just relaxes. I had to work it, pull in the bucket and elbow, then work the main arm up and engage the "tow" lock. I can raise the main arm, but as soon as I let up on the control, it...

L3010 hydraulic leak from right front wheel

Unfortunately, fill plug is on the side. I do occasionally get it wet, so will just vent the plug when it gets warm. I dug this pond and built the deck in 2000. I've had to drain it once because of a flood in 2009 (note there is a creek on the other side of the pond that totally flooded)...

L3010 hydraulic leak from right front wheel

OK, found a youtube video; fill plug is on the right side and check plug on the left. so fill with 4 - 6 qts. until fluid starts coming out of check plug - then you are done. I'm assuming 6 qts since I fully drained,

L3010 hydraulic leak from right front wheel

Heavy duty snap ring pliers made all the diff on the left side. Finished it in less than 3 hrs! Now, I seem to be having a problem finding out what the 80/90w gear oil capacity is. I'm assuming the fill plug on the rt side feeds both. But, how much? So far, just getting type of oil, engine...
