Question about which cylinders seem to fail more often.

I'm still researching this, via internet & phone calls. So far, getting more answers that indicate the inner pistons might be .0005" less in diameter "due to thermal loading/expansion".

Question about which cylinders seem to fail more often.

Stopped at one of the two fairly close Kubota dealers yesterday and asked them about the difference in Kubota pistons for the same engine. He said he had asked 'someone' once before & was told it was the metal formula that was different. Hard to believe that would be the answer. If another...

Question about which cylinders seem to fail more often.

Additional information about pistons for the D1402 IDI engine. One of the vendors was willing to do a quick comparison of the two pistons. One for cylinder 1 & 3, the other for cylinder # 2. They said the piston for cylinder 2 weighed slightly less & had a shorter skirt length. No...

Question about which cylinders seem to fail more often.

Just spoke with another large shop that rebuilds Kubota engines. They said they think the pistons for the IDI engines (that have different part #'s for their pistons) are 'heat treated' not smaller. They also said they have wondered why, but never had a definitive answer. Does anyone...

Question about which cylinders seem to fail more often.

Last fall I purchased a Kubota L2250DT with the D1302 engine (about 1050 hours). Regrettably believed the old guy 'it's a good tractor'. So far I've put about six hours on it & about $2000 for parts (new & used). Thought it had a slight fuel knock, but turned out to be the #2 (middle/inner)...

what diesel additives do you use?

This link goes to a Lubricity test of several additives. Surprised no one entered it before. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=177728 Interesting that Lucas upper cylinder lubricant #14 on list & #'s 15,16,17,18,19 actually decreased the lubrication quality of the diesel...

    D1302 gear case & governor R&R - L2250

A question about lower window/opening for spring access. Is the fuel injection pump necessary to be removed to access the springs? From what little I've found it appears to be necessary. Thanks.

Thanks, I should be able to look at it later today.

    D1302 gear case & governor R&R - L2250

I need to change the gear cover on a L2250 with the D1302 engine. I'm concerned about messing with the governor assembly that seems to be partly mounted on this cover. Any idea what I need to do or watch out for to make sure I remove & replace it properly. The workshop manual doesn't seem to...

    L2250 Charging problem

There probably is a wire 'dangling' (not connected to anything) near the voltage regulator. Connect a wire to 12 volts through a lo amp fuse and connect that to the dangling wire. The light should go out. Mine did.

    battery charging light

An update on my previous rambling after my reply on the 'charging light. Luckily, the local Kubota dealer said the engine service manual comments about replacing the head if it was out of spec 'is a little too stringent'. They send heads out to be resurfaced fairly often. Machine shop has...

    battery charging light

Hi, I purchase an L2250dt about 5 weeks ago. Probably will be a good tractor when (and if) I finish working on it. Told it was a very 'good' tractor. In looking at problems, I found a light on the dash that I thought meant it was not charging. Checked alternator, it was good. Put on new...
