B7100 gear, gear oil question

Good day all I just wanted to check that the recommendation for gear oil is as the shop manual says SAE 80. I’m in NY it can get cold and I don’t know if it’s ever been changed

No change, but straight 80W is hard to find and normally expensive.
Just use UDT or UDT compatible and call it good.

Rotella T6.......... they have two blends... 5w-40 and 15w-40..........

the 5w-40 would be my choice in the cold of NY.

15-40 was what I ran in my pickups didn’t know there was a 5-40

Just to be absolutely clear, diesel engine oil for diesel, gas engine oil for gasoline engines. They are formulated differently.

Somewhere in the late 70's early 80's Kubota updated the transmission oil recommendation for ALL tractors to UDT or equivalent

I’ll second the vote for Rotella.

I’m in Mi, so we probably have “similar” winters.

My “Kubota life” started out with the Kubota brand 10w30, but found a “stupid good” deal on 20 gallons of Rotella 5w-40, so that is my flavor for now.

My truck has used a variety of Rotella flavors from 15w-40 T3 all the way to the “newest” T6 5w40.

I think they make a 0w-40 now, but I could not locate any locally when it was on “Super Special”…...

I also just go with the SUDT 2 (?) to keep things simple. Can’t hurt I figure.
