The 12 year old hemlock box around my wife's asparagus bed was falling apart so I put a new box around the old. Cut pieces to length in the garage and used the tractor as a vise while I drilled the pilot holes.
2 X 12 X 16 PT is pretty heavy so I carried the kit out back with the tractor too.

New box is a couple inches higher than the old. I need to pick up some lags and put the tee-post back in.

Simple job for the tractor but a big help.

gg
hey that looks great! and I love grilled asparagus. :D

I need to overhaul the planters at the farm bordered by rr ties buried 40 years ago that were already old as dirt to begin with. they've all but returned to mother earth at this point.

I like how that looks, might try something like that as a replacement.

Take a guess what I got to do. Never use a fitting like this. EVER!

ETA: Since you can't see it, the top fitting is female 3/4" NPT.

I suggest a few things if you are still in the “muddy mess” phase:

Put a swing joint between the buried pipe and the vertical pipe

Use schedule 80 PVC

install an underground quick coupler instead of an above ground hydrant

Still no word on my Zero turn. That's not a good sign. They had it for a week and promised a quick turn around. I assume they are waiting for parts or having trouble figuring out what's wrong.

Meanwhile, my lawn will need to be hayed now lol.

Ask them for a "loaner" ... They gotta have something there that can cut grass!
There are goat herds for rent up here! 😂 Unlike a zero turn, you can get liquid out rather than having to put liquid in. I'd like some goats but I'd need to upgrade 1/2 mile of fencing first.

Another suggestion is don't overtighten threaded PVC. I put THOUSANDS of Schedule 40 fittings in swimming pools back in the 70's and early 80's. The secret is a good thread sealer that also helps lubricate the threads as they're tightened so that the plastic threads don't gall and stick together. Teflon based sealers are best, silicone RTV is the next best choice. NEVER had a leak and every pipe I put in was pressure tested at 100 PSI. Leaks are not welcome in swimming pools for a whole lotta reasons.

Pulled my neighbors l3301 out of some mud! Always a good time when a recovery goes smoothly, I couldn't believe the little l2501 could do it that easily! First time recovering anything bigger than a riding mower in mud, so i was excited to try it out!. I should have got some pics, but it had to be 1ft+ of it on all 4 wheels. I think the R1 tires helped a lot, he is running R4s.

Well guys, I got good news.

The lawn mower is on its way back. They couldn't find anything wrong. It was simply bad gas. They did ran seafoam through it just in case. But they drained the fuel and put different gas in it and it ran perfectly fine and stopped bogging down.

It's weird. Same gas I put in my truck and it runs fine. Now I'm question that gas station, I might have to get it somewhere else.

Could it just have been a coincidence? Little worried that it's gonna do the same again.

I had a busy day yesterday at the land with a good friend. He spent the day spot spraying woody invasive species. The targeted species was buckthorn, autumn olive, Japanese barberry and a few others.

While he cut and sprayed I was on the tractor grappling and moving them along with further ice storm cleanup.

I also swapped the box blade for the 6ft rotary cutter. Trail maintenance season is here!

The purple wildflowers are wild lupine which is a native plant here in Wi that is the sole host plant for the Fed endangered Karner Blue Butterfly which I have a sizable population. He is spot spraying small buckthorn plants that have popped up along the pine tree line.

Also got a picture of what I think is a Coopers hawk with a ground squirrel in its talons.

Another special native plant that popped up in a restored area of the oak/savanna. This one is a pink lady slipper orchid. Wi has I think 3 native orchids. White , yellow and pink lady slippers.

Great photos.

here is an site that is interesting not just for the specific species, but there is a tab for similar species. I am not certain what that is but that is a cool dinner pic.

We could use that popcorn machine in some of these threads! Nothing quite like the pop of brand new Kubota orange. Even that Gatorade truck seems to have the right idea. :)

Did you see any L70 tractors? I'd be curious as to your thoughts on those.

I do use that site and also INaturlist. INaturlist uses a format where the users will suggest id's until a consensus is arrived at.

At first I thought Coopers hawk also as I have consistent sighting of them on my land. This one is trending towards a broad winged hawk. They are also similar to a Coopers and I did not feel confident to suggest a id in my previous post.

I like that site and also NestWatch.

at our place up north I like to use a free app on my phone called ‘seek’ (it’s from Inaturalist…maybe same thing you are using?)and you can take picture or just get in view and it will identify plants bugs animals…sometimes have to hold for a bit or at several angles…it works pretty well on stuff that is close or holding still and can zoom to it.
As it recognizes the object it continues to class to family to etc. I have not had much luck if something moving with it though.
