I have a kubota b7200 with L1640 loader. One of the tilt cylinders needs repacked, it's spewing fluid. I took it to the hydraulic shop and htey quoted me $500 to repack the cylinder.

I got a huge sticker shock on it to say the least. I'e never had to have one done before.

Is this normal, i kind of need it, it's that time of year. I dont' want to do it myself, but the next cylinder that goes i'm pretty sure i won't have any choice.

I assume its a B1640 loader. Toss the old cylinders in the recycle bin and buy two new ones for half that quoted price.

For my job, I work on peanut combines. I recently took two cylinders, much larger than that, off a combine and had both rebuilt for around $650.

To me $500 seems pretty high for that.

Unfortunately i'm pressed for time or i would absolutely fiddle iwth it myself. It got the jump on me when I need it, so i'm at their mercy.

where do you get the new ones? It's a 1640 loader. I need hoses pretty bad as well.
Nothing special about the cylinders. You can buy them from any number of0o online sources. They are 1.5" bore but I dont remember the length. Measure the fully retracted center to center length of the one you have and I will point you to an online source. Probably $150 each and you need to replace them in pairs. You can buy 3/8" R16 hoses with female JIC ends ready to go from Surplus Center. They come in 6" increments which work just fine. Prices sre great. For example 18" hoses for the 4 workports are $12.50 each.

Back together. Done for now but i'm really curious about getting new hoses.

Some of the connections I'm not sure would withstand the disconnect process, let alone a new connection.

The main concern I have is that one on the hard line that is pretty rusted.

Any idea what sizes i'm looking for and what types of connections?

And surplus center can make them for me cheaper?

Surplus Center does not make hoses. They sell hoses in premade lengths. They are svailable in 6" increments. Measure the old hoses and order the closest length you can get.

The oriiginal hoses were 3/8" with a mix of end types. I suggest you convert everything to JIC-06 female swivel ends.

You will need some of these for the pipes and cylinders. Put them in and you never touch them again.

The valve had a mix of straight and elbow fittings. Post some pictures to see exsctly what you have.

Thanks. I need a 12' hose for my b8200 and didn't want to think about buying a replacement from my normal shop.

For anybody visiting this thread in the future the B1630 / B1640 cylinders are a common size and there are lots of sources for replacements. Because the are a matched set always replace them in pairs. Here is one source

Boom cylinders

Bucket cylinders
