Like the title states... I want a 7x16 car hauler near Roanoke, VA. I am looking for something close. This is a "want" not a "need" so I am content to bide my time.

I originally thought it would be easy to find a decent fixer-upper on CL or FBMP for $1500 or less and rehab it. Nope! These, apparently, are rare and go fast. I can get a new one for $3300 (Big Tex 60EC) So my budget is set at sub $2500 or I'll just get a new one. This is kinda what I have in mind.

Here are the specs that I want:

Ball hitch (no pintles)
7ft wide between fenders
16ft long deck (prefer no dovetail)
7k gross weight rating
Brakes on at least one axle
Wood decks only (no steel)
Stowaway ramps - no foldups
Stake pockets on all three sides
Must have title

I have cash ready to go. I can also trade a pair of DS bikes (WR250R & XT225) or a 3pack moto garage combo (Handy lift table, NoMar tire changer, wheel balancer) - all three are listed at ADVrider with full details.

Your chances of "finding" what you want is slim to none.
Just a new one build the way you want.

Agreed. Slim but not none, however. I have been looking for the past few months and have missed out in a few within my 50mi search radius on CL and FBMP. They are out there, but they just don't last long. I have had good luck with "wanted" ads in my various moto, boat, and plane forums so I thought I'd try my luck here.

Another factor that may push me to a new 60EC from Big Tex (or similar) is that many folks are asking new trailer prices or higher for used trailers.

New trailers have new decks, new brakes and new tires!

New trailers have new brakes and new tires!
And for only $800 difference to go new. New warranty if needed and no rust. And better resale if/when you upgrade. Much easier to sell a like new trailer than one 20 years old for $500 less than a new one cost.

Back in the fall of 2021 when I was getting ready to move ... And I had just gotten a new pickup truck, my plan was to go to U-Haul and to just put my truck on there trailer, and fill the rest of my stuff in there biggest truck, but .. they said my new truck was too heavy to go on there trailer, so I decided to just buy my own trailer, and pull it with my truck ...

Only a couple of tiny worn out over priced used trailers around ... New ones were also high priced, and very little supply, I thought I "wanted" a 16', but considered a 18' since no 16's available ... Found a new 18' 250 miles away ... But a 20' was only 90 miles away ... So I bought the 20'!

At the time I did not have a tractor, but knew I would be getting one once I moved to Missouri ... I ended up "settling" for a SCUT TLB as that is all I could find with a BH ... But ... I'm glad I bought a 20' in the long run, yes it's a tad heavier than the 16' version, so a little less carrying capacity, but it opens up lots of options with carrying different things on it, I have the deck space to "balance" the load, instead of being forced to stay in the 16' deck ... And that is with my SCUT, your tractor is bigger ... But I can fill my trailer deck with forks on my SCUT, and a 5' brush hog on the back, tail wheel actually just hangs over the end!

Just before I backed it up ...

So with that all being said ... Look at longer trailers too in your search criteria.

Might consider some feet at the back of the trailer to keep the back of your truck on the ground when you load the heaver tractor.

Yeah, I welded some on ...

To unload, I just set them touching the ground, backed off and they are up a bit ...

I use to just put blocks under the back ...

And braced the front
