I didn't wanna take the weight box off the 3 point to move my 8.5x12ft trailer 1000ft so I just clamped on the drop receiver and got it where I needed it to go so I can do some maintenance on it. Gonna be picking up a stump grinder tomorrow and this trailer has been sitting since last fall. The trailer is pretty light, I mean I can easily move it by hand but trying to pull it by hand a 1000ft in 90f, not worth it.
But man is it hard to move with it like this, it's so touchy and the overall geometry is weird. I thought I had the jack up enough but nope, ended up making a trench on the lawn
Oh well, luckily it was cleanly dug out so I just rolled the side back on and drove over it with the tractor now you can't even tell. Phew.
Thinking about welding on a hitch to the weight box for times like this. Would make things a lot easier!

I have to agree with you. I've moved trailers around a fair bit using a hitch (ball) on the end of one of the pallet fork tines, and recently made a turnover 2" & 2-5/16" hitch that pins on the end of the fork. But as you say, the hitch can move very rapidly left or right with just a small input to the steering wheel and moving a trailer this way is less than ideal. "touchy ... overall geometry is weird" is true.
I get the tines close together but find that I need to make constant adjustments to the height of the trailer coupler due to the terrain, and then there's the ability to have the trailer rotate about the axles with the tires virtually stationary which isn't good for anything.
I worked for a commercial diving/welding/construction company for quite a few years, and we'd move trailers around all the time with a forklift with a ball at the end of the tine. But the wheels that steer are at the back of the forklift so much less sensitive to input via the steering wheel.

I need to work on getting the used skidding winch on the tractor. Might be a project for the afternoon when it's to hot to work in the sun.

Moved the last of the cull logs I had delivered. The one log is 18' 4" long. I cut it up into 3 60" logs and one 40". I don't think I would have wanted to do 80" logs, the 60" logs were heavy enough.
I tossed the grapple on the other day and moved some more of the 10-12' red oak logs we picked up last year over to the splitting area. Cut and split 3 of them, left another 4 to maybe mess with today. Also, need to lube the loader and drag the driveway with the landplane. We had a lot of heavy rain the month of June and the driveway is looking pretty sad.
The winch is pretty old.
It's a Farmi ( I think maybe).It is tan in color. I am going to try and get it installed this weekend.
I will post a picture of it when it's on the tractor.

Got some free millings from my neighbor to do my range road...
I had the neighbors grandson (13 y/o) load my truck with the mini ex. He had a blast. I had just as much fun watching him have fun.
I lost count on the number of loads but they were approx 4 yards/load. I would guess about 50-60 yards in all. Hopefully, I can get it spread over the holiday.

This afternoon I made hay in the front yard and then raked it up.
While scooping piles of grass with the bucket, the sheriff drives past real slow with its lights flashing and a silver minivan with some sign on following, and I just assumed they were looking for someone.
So I get ready to pull out into the road after they pass, and I see a real old John Deere tractors come up the road pulling a wagon and a couple more old tractors further back down the road following. Anyway the tractor and wagon pass and I see the guy driving tractor has a black suit on and in the wagon I see a casket draped in American flag.
so as soon as I see that, I shut the tractor off and hop off the tractor, take my hat off and give the rest of the procession my best wishes holding my hat. I did not count but there were quite a few old tractors,
including a mint 8N and a mint Minneapolis Moline before the string of cars came along. It took a while for all to pass. There was only antiques and the old moline was as close to orange as I saw. (No kubotas)
I was genuinely trying to pay my respects…anyway I get in the house and asked the spousal unit if she saw all the old tractors and then I explained what was going on. She says, “was your fly open the whole time?” I look down and sure enough, there I am with my camo jeans, fly unzipped and my flurescebt Ken’s bolt on hooks shirt tucked in and shining thru. I felt like a complete dolt.

Did some stump grinding today. That was pretty fun although a bit boring too to be honest. Just a long time standing there grinding a large spruce stump. Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth
I didn't have a lot of time to take pictures and videos, I just worked as fast as I could due to severe weather coming. Got it all done before a bad storm hit. I even was able to fill in the hole with the topsoil and got it all graded.
I love the track stump grinder, man that thing was super easy to use.

I cut down a dying black cherry tree today. It had some green but most of it was rotted up top and was looking kinda ugly.
All I can say is that this tree was HEAVY. I didn't quite get it balanced, but was able to lift it up a few inches of the ground at full throttle haha. Didn't leave it off the ground though just wanted to pick it up enough to cut it up.
I don't keep the wood, I usually give it away. So I used my free plastic pallets I got and stacked them up and moved them up by the road for free. A lot of people around here will take it and use it for firewood, I atleast feel I give something back to community. Anyways boy that was heavy moving too but the L2501 didn't struggle much at all really. I was quite impressed actually. You can tell how big they are haha
Then my least favorite part is cleaning the brush. This time I spent a little longer squashing it down with the forks at different angles and was able to pick up the whole pile in one shot. I actually succeeded this time!!
So this was my 4th of July! I did go to the parade earlier as well and later today I'll go watch the fireworks and relax.

Mowed 10 acres of grass. Got some changes coming to my mowing setup but no eta yet.
Not exactly working on my tractor but for my tractor. Started framing diesel tank shed/lean-to. Actually for the little progress made, took all day. Hard to clamp, measure, cut, refit and secure by myself. A pro carpenter would know the tricks to do it more efficiently. Tomorrow will trim posts and install rafters, roofing. Debating fiberglass vs metal panel toofing. Will see what HD has in stock.

Your least favorite part could be changed quickly with a grapple. I've been trimming trees and I had four big grapples full to haul to the burn pile. Afterwards, setting in the shade resting, I told my wife probably the implement that has been the most value in saving back breaking labor is the grapple. She said, "I like the bucket to."
