    Kubota B6000 Restoration

A couple of photos just before I started disassembly: The service manual could be a bit clearer with the trans disassembly instructions. I managed to get all the shafts out but there were a few snap rings that needed to be removed from the middle of some shafts, not just the ones retaining the...

    Kubota B6000 Restoration

I'm back! I did a little more paint/prep since I last posted, but there were several things that held me up, including money, weather (winter), obtaining certain parts, and disassembling the trans and getting it prepped, so the project has been mostly sitting dormant. I'm still not yet ready to...

    Kubota B6000 Restoration

I've moved most of the important parts inside my home, with a few still out in my shed. It's mostly the bigger stuff or old hardware I'll replace still sitting outside.

    Kubota B6000 Restoration

The o-ring on the hydraulic cylinder is in very bad shape. Waitemata Hydraulics didn't have one big enough so I might have to get the genuine replacement part. I contacted the local Kubota dealer before christmas and asked for price and availability for a long list of parts. I haven't heard...

    Kubota B6000 Restoration

The finished trans cover: I bought a decal sticker pack off eBay here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/324348120712?var=513899544929 The hydraulic cylinder cap. I've been putting a light spray of CRC Zinc It on any steel flange faces. I've used a bit of car body filler (bondo type stuff) to fill...

    Kubota B6000 Restoration

It's been a while. I've still been active, but mostly prepping and painting parts and doing a bit of disassembly here and there. Nick, I think it will still be some time before I assemble it. The prepping of parts for paint is taking ages and I also need to do some welding and repairs on a few...

    Kubota B6000 Restoration

I took the alternator apart. I've seen a few different terms used on this forum (e.g. dynamo) but since this is a permanent magnet alternator, I think it is called a magneto. First the fan is taken off with four bolts. The nut on the other side is removed along with a lock washer and conical...

    Kubota B6000 Restoration

There is a little chip on the four wheel drive engagement thing. I took the diff and bearings out. There was a little play in the left and right side small gears so they may need a shim. I took the first shaft out along with the cover. I'm not sure I can take any more of the trans apart...

    Kubota B6000 Restoration

Putting magnets in the transmission is a good idea. Hopefully they might just stick on to a drain plug without moving as the surrounding is aluminium. I don't yet know if the rear wheels have tubes yet but it looks like they might. I think the the holes are not too big in the rear wheels so I...

    Kubota B6000 Aux Hydraulics

It's actually been a while since I used a tractor but I think I remember David Browns being like that. There must be some sort of closed-loop feedback? The B6000 has a valve more like a FEL or backhoe etc. It only has three positions. You can keep it in up or down but it does spring back to the...

    Kubota B6000 Aux Hydraulics

It sounds like you may have a different type of lever/valve than I've got on the B6000? On the B6000 the lever has neutral (closed), up and down. So it should be in neutral almost all of the time including when switching over if using a single action aux cylinder.

    Kubota B6000 Aux Hydraulics

Thanks for the pictures! So are you saying that the 3pt actually does hold position when switching to aux? It looks like the cap on the B7200D is almost exactly the same as the one on the B6000, so I wonder if the cap with the valve would be compatible with it. My use case would be for a small...

Kubota B6000 glow plugs info and upgrade

These NGK Y-107-1 glow plugs are the old single coil type with no built in temperature regulation. So the resistance doesn't change much depending on heat. I measured one of the glow plugs for at least 30s at around 10.5V and the current/resistance was pretty constant. I'm not wanting to just...

    Kubota B6000 Aux Hydraulics

That seems like an interesting way of using the aux port with a return. It sounds like you only have a one way valve which would be very easy for me to add, but I think having the 3pt moving at the same time would be a pain if driving a single action auxiliary ram. Any chance you could take a...

    Kubota B6000 Aux Hydraulics

The Kubota B6000 is capable of controlling auxiliary single action hydraulics with the same lever used for the rear lift arms. This seems like a pretty clean and simple way of adding aux hydraulics to me. Using an integration block or plumbing more valves inline might be more versatile but also...
