There are cheap engineers just like there are cheap contractors. Guess what happens when both end up on the same job?

I've got an L3800HST with R-4's. The outside of the tires are about 62" or so I think. I've got a 6' Tiller. Works fine.

I've got a few rocks, but not many. No sandy soil here. I've hit some rocky patches, but they're not for a tiller of any size. Beats the whole works to death.

I'm consistently running a 72" with my L3800 Hydro 4x4, no problem. Seldom if ever use 4 wheel when tilling.

Most people use a tiller once or twice a year. At that type of interval, I doubt it matters as long as the maintenance is performed.

I've got a year on a L3800 HST. I do a lot of bush-hogging backwards and forwards along some fence rows. Per the comment above, once I've engaged the PTO, it stays that way. But, with the HST, I've no reason to disengage. I like it. My size 13 is big enough to heel-toe the pedal. Also...

Before I bought the L3800, I asked around. A guy I trust, who's a little harder on stuff than I am, has been running a L2800 for years with a 6' brush hog and 6' tiller and loves it. It's about the same on horsepower as the L3200, maybe a hair less.

Call Barlow's in Somerset KY. They have pretty competitive pricing, even if your shipping. I spoke to the driver who delivered mine. He'd been to New Jersey and Montana dropping off tractors.
