I have an L3200DT. I put a Westendorf frontloader on it. Loader attaches to the axillary hydraulic block with three hoses, marked by Kubota as in, out, and tank port.

I am purchasing a three-point hitch log splitter that will also run off of the axillary hydraulic block, and I will disconnect the loader and connect the splitter with quick-connect fittings. It appears the splitter only uses two hoses: in and out.

1) I don't understand what this "tank port" is all about.

2) Should I disconnect the "tank port" line from the loader when running the splitter?

thanks

You can leave it connected, just make sure the in and out couplings seal.

Your loader valve has whats called "Power Beyond", the IN port (on the valve) comes from the pump (OUT on the block), the PB or BYD port from the valve goes to the IN on the block-that feeds the 3PH, The OUT or T line on the valve takes the "waste oil" from the workports and sends it to the reservoir/tank to get cooled and recycled through the system.

Clear as mud? OK, so to really answer your question:

Don't worry about the Tank port in your case. Just plumb the splitter to the IN/OUT ports, just make sure that you do not disconnect these lines while the tractor running since you will deadhead the pump and possible damage it. These lines have the full flow of the hydraulic system flowing through them whenever it running.

Thanks. Just to put a fine point on it: the "Power Beyond" tank port hose allows for the front loader to be used at the same time as the PTO. So I don't have to worry about that if I am only using one or the other.

The "PTO" is mechanically drive via gears in the transmission. If you meant (and I assume you did) the 3PH (Three Point Hitch) then yes, you are 100% correct.
