We are having issues with DEF error codes. We have spent $8,000 doing the dealer recommended repairs. Replaced the injectors and the DEF and it didn't work.

I saw a thread in here from 2019 about an M5-111 with the exact issues with the SCR system. The posted also mentioned Kubota halting production of M5 and M6s in 2018 due to this reason? Anyone recall anything like that?

Dealer is recommending another $8,000 in repairs that "might work." If not, it would be a complete engine rebuild on an 8 year old tractor with only 7600 hours.

Feels a bit like we are being taken for a ride, we are a female team and not sure our dealer is shooting straight with us..?

Anyone else have experience with this? Any leads or ideas?

The hours you list would be in the ballpark for a full rebuild.
But there is usually a lot of other signs that point to that needing to be done.

Any other information you can share?

  1. Confirm P20EE / SPN 4364 FMI 1 with KOBD ACE; if any other ACU-related DTCs are present, diagnose those first.
  2. Check DEF concentration in the DEF tank with a DEF concentration meter; specification is 31.0 to 34.0%. If NG, drain/refill DEF and flush the DEF line, then continue.
  3. Check DEF injector leakage: remove injector from exhaust pipe, clean deposits/wipe water, hold injector vertical, run “Circulation Test (ACU)” with KOBD ACE, and verify no leakage or bleeding at the tip.
  4. Check DEF injection quantity using an electronic scale and container; run “Injector Injection Control Function (ACU)” at Duty 80%, then verify collected DEF weight is 80 to 120 g.
  5. Inspect inside the mixing pipe for abnormal condition/deposits; clean the mixing pipe if NG.
  6. If the above pass, warm the engine and compare/log pre-NOx and post-NOx sensor values during the instructed SCR/DPF procedure.
