This is true. I've seen many on here do a lot with just forks.

I was looking at a grapple from homestead a while back.

I feel like I could get the third function on myself....possibly! But if not, I got a really good tractor tech a few miles down the road that could.

He bought a 69 el camino last year and we immediately became elco buddies LOL.

Being as you turned wrenches, I'm pretty confident you can figure out how to install the 3rd function. I did mine in an evening, pretty straightforward.

Maybe I missed it in another thread, but why the sudden departure from turning wrenches and career change to an OtR truck driver?

Just before we fully relocated out here, i'm running home real quick to get the garbage to the curb. Took my little yota, thought i could make it, immediately got her stuck at the bottom of the hill. She's lowered on toyo proxes....had to get creative LOL!

100ft extension cord wrapped around the box blade..... pulled her all the way back up to the road LOL!

Put on the skidding winch to do a little trail clearing. Didn’t really need it today but will for the next job so went ahead and swapped the bush hog for the winch.

Only issue I’ve had with the winch is it sometimes bottoms out when crossing ditches and the creek crossings. The 3 point lift arms were in the bottom hole so moving them up one was an easy fix. The bigger problem was the hydraulic top link the dealer chose was a bit shorter fully extended than the original manual toplink. With toplink fully extended, the cage on the winch was hitting the ROPS when lifted and it was putting a tighter bend on the hydraulic hoses exiting the rear remotes than I would prefer. That was the real limiting factor on height.

The hydraulic toplink doesn’t add any value on this particular implement. Swapped it for the manual toplink and moved the lift arm pins up one position.

That gave it 2” extra height. Doesn’t seem like much, but it’s so close to the rear axle, 2” of height makes a significant difference in departure angle. Didn’t have any issues with bottoming out.

Cage was even with ROPs previously. Now I have to remember to lower it just a little before the exiting the 9’ shop door that barely clears the ROPs.

Cleared this deadfall pine from the north trail. Not a big deal except it had several poison ivy vines in it. I wasn’t allergic until about 25 years ago. Now I know whatever I do, I can keep from getting much, but I’ll have at least a couple spots after messing with this. If for no other reason, because it will take me at least an hour from here to a shower.

Cut it yesterday at the end of the day and headed straight in to clean up. Got a couple spots but nothing bad. The little vine on top of the tree wasn’t near as irritating as the big one now on the ground after yesterday’s axe work.

Today, decided I was not getting off the tractor to manually deal with any of this. Didn’t matter if I had to play pick up sticks with forge tongs, I wasn’t touching it again. Success. Took a little bit because not much maneuvering room but got it done.

Yea I mucked up the random photo thread about it pretty good with my antics LOL.

Just something I've had a pretty strong interest in over the years. Didn't think it would actually happen.

Prayed about it as much as i could. Couldn't be runnin off changing careers when wife and kids gotta eat. Ultimately The Lord gave me one of the clearest signs I've ever received in my life. Then that got accelerated dang near beyond my control.

Doors were immediately opened. And now a guy is off to South Carolina on the 22nd.

You have an invaluable skill set and personal conviction, with the pride in your work, you'll always be able to make money, whether that's for yourself on the side or with a boss, you'll be able to provide.

Truck driving will be a change of pace, and the CDL test has changed half a dozen times since I got mine back in 2006, but you'll be fine. It'll be exciting, having a wife and kids myself, the healthcare benefits when you factor them into your "total compensation" are really big! I've often thought about doing trucking as my second career. I'll retire well before my wife can, and with two young kids, I'm going to imagine they aren't going to get any cheaper as they grow up ! (I still have quite a few years to go, though. I started at the county when I was 19.)

So you most definitely know what i mean then.

Had I stayed in it or if I ever go back, the fleet world is no doubt where i'd go. I can no longer deal with the basic public in a professional manner. No more "google said to try this" or "youtube showed you should do that". "My friends uncles brother in law was a mechanic 20 years ago, he says to do this." Just the most ridiculous statements getting thrown at you constantly.

The basic public would rather take that advice and throw parts at it to no end. It was some of the most disrespectful times having people do this over and over, and them not take your recommendations. And then at the end the customer say, "I just don't know what to do next." Well ma'am or sir, we do employ techs here that are capable of correctly diagnosing your vehicle. You know, maybe give that shot since YOU'RE AT A DANG REPAIR SHOP NOT TARGET!!! LOL.

In 25 years, I FARRRR from know it all, am definitely not perfect, but always strived to stay current with the times, knowledge, and to not become a parts changer. Being someone whose never had a lot of money, I always made sure not to play around with other people's funds in a careless way.

And because of this, i've held ASE certs for almost 2 decades with active testing every 5 years per the requirements. Kicked that up several years ago with advanced testing, L and X series, extensive lab scope training, and ended up not meaning a single thing to nobody LOL. That accompanied with owning more money in tooling than I could every possibly add up this day in time was heartbreaking.

Now reading up on all the benefits these companies can offer, 401k, healthcare and what not is going to be an unreal change in our life. Always been a cash guy after retiring the wife as a NICU nurse of about 15 years. My boy and I were never that much, but my wife and 2 daughters would always put a hurtin on me. So expensive. So I do look forward to that as well as some sort of retirement.

As a tech, I always worked with the expectations that I would until I DROPPED LOL!!

I graded the driveway washouts from the last heavy rains while my friend pruned white pine and oak branches which I then moved to a brush pile. Good day to get some outdoor time in, perfect weather.

It shows it in the manual too, and doesn't mention that it's an option, so I'm guessing it's standard equipment on my model ...

I have been looking at these online and have sent messages to the seller, he asked for my OEM part number for my RH side link and I provided it to him yesterday just haven’t checked yet to see if he has responded with any information about availability of one for my tractor.

I found a pretty decent rear view mirror and it came in today. I was able to mount it with the same bolts as the Nilights that I put on top of the CoolTop. Pictures posted of the mirror installed. Also had ordered some LED replacement bulbs for the headlights, I hate incandescent bulbs, haven‘t looked at the other bulbs yet but I will replace them too if needed!

Nice trailer and you have it freighted up pretty good - that is a score. Back in the 60's we lived in Enfield for a while where the shade tobacco farms were active. I wonder if they still are - we've been in VT now for 50 years.


Last time I did maintenance on the L3010 I noticed the fan belt was getting crumbly and badly cracked. So I ordered a new one. I just got around to changing it out today. Once I figured out how to snake the new belt thru the fan blades and shroud to get it around the shaft it was easy.

Yep…I don’t have same level of experience, but that has been my struggle so far with mine…departure angle and top link a real pain at hook up time…but it is nice to be able to trim to suit once attached. So far I have only used the cat 2 pin points but may well use the cat 1 locations depending on where I plan to venture to…so far I have done some light grading with it in the cat 2 pin locations.

Used the L3901DT to move the WoodMaxx chipper so I could work on out wood burning boiler. Needed to work on one of the draft fans.
