On my l3010, my starter is staying engaged after i let go the Key. I can sometimes hit the brake pedel or put it in gear and it will kick out. Wondering if the problem is in the switch or the relay or solenoid. Any help will be appreciated.
I'm confused what we're working with, an L3710 GST or L3010DT, but they're about the same electrically. Here's a wiring diagram, pretty fuzzy.
I would
1 When it hangs, pull the small wire off the starter solenoid. If the starter disengages, the problem is not the starter. Otherwise have the starter serviced.
2 If 1 didn't fix it, the starter relay is suspect. Locate the relay. When the starter hangs, check the voltage on the brown? wire coming from the keyswitch. If it's zero, the relay is bad. If it has 12 volts, the keyswitch is probably bad. Power could be feeding back from the glow controller, but that's not likely. You could eliminate that possibility by pulling the wire from the keyswitch to the glow timer temporarily.
