Hi newbie here. My 07 L3130 with 800 hours shuts off whenever shifted into forward or reverse using shuttle shift. Runs great until then. Not sure where to start on troubleshooting. Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

My 3130 HST Owner's Manual has--memory here--a brief section about how to confirm all safety switches are working correctly: sit down, do this, push that in a particular sequence. It ends with 'see dealer', but at least you'd have an idea where to start looking.

Different machine with shuttle like yours has a microswitch mounted alongside the base of shuttle lever under the dash plastic. Get to yours and figure out if something changed orientation or has gone bad. For whatever it's worth mine is the third GST I've seen where the shuttle safety switch had apparently failed and been removed from service by [Previous] Owner(s).

The only other thing is start tracing wiring and finding all the safety switches. Our 3130 has about as many hours as yours and has been flawless; I've never had to search out all the interlocks.

Could be PTO (electric handle partially engaged effecting switch), seat switches, or even somehow fuel solenoid wiring. Think simple and work your way toward increasing difficulity and maybe you get lucky.

Messick's can furnish wiring diagram from parts book. Check also KubotaBooks.Com and Kubota website.

Please post back with remedy for all to learn.

Bulldog said it might be a safety switch and as I thought it through that made sense since it shut off in both forward and reverse. I called my dealer, Clanton Tractor & Equipment in Clanton, AL. and chatted with Mickey Bates, owner, and he said that was probably what it was but put one of his tech's on the fone and he gave me a few hints and where to start. First thing he said was pull the seat switch connector apart and jump it out. There is a common in between the two wires that detect if the seat is down or up. When I raised the seat . . . the actuation lever did not spring up! Bingo. To confirm I jumped it out and worked as advertised.
Shameless plug: This tractor has been flawless since the day I bought it new from Mickey Bates (it's a family owned and operated company and Great folks to deal with!) and this is the first issue I've had. And it may have lasted longer except for that seat having to deal with my large a$$ all the time! In retrospect I'm surprised it's lasted this long!
Thanks to Bulldog & Stubbyie for the help!

Glad you found the problem. Little things like that will drive you crazy. At least it was a simple fix and you're ready to go now. Sounds like you are lucky enough to have a good dealer in your area. That always makes things easier to deal with.
