Im sure this has been discussed at length but need some new info given a recent chat at the local Kubota dealer

I am new to the tractor world and need some advice, all those I know with them have been great.

I want to put a more dedicated snow tires on my L4760 HSTC (R4 currently). Nokian and Galaxy make nice rubber for this application.
Was picking up my machine on Wednesday when a rep came to help chain it to the trailer..he and a colleague suggest either the new R14 hybrid or turf type for snow use on asphalt. I do not want to run chain unless necessary or at all.

Anyone running either for snow? Loaded I assume?

I have a loader mounted blower. with a couple miles of asphalt to deal with.

Will the factory rims support tires of equal size (per the tire shop)?

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving and thanks for the help!!

I can’t speak to those choices but if you want to keep your R-4’s consider grooving them, it makes a world of difference on traction in the snow. This opinion is controversial 🤪

I've seen quote a few tractors with the Nokians for snow removal. I'd love a set for my machine.
At rhe rate I'm going it'll be years before the R1's are wore out..... they suck on hard packed snow..... chains not an option for long road drives...
You could also look at studs?

I put studs in the tires on my tractor.
If you use your tractor on the black top stud are probably not for you.
They just slide and don't have good traction.
If it a dirt driveway that's a different story

I have been considering putting studs in my R14 tires as I have a long hill that can get icy. In the past I have just put down sand but doing that can get sketchy at my age.

I have had excellent luck with turf tires on a 24hp tractor with a front mount blower.

I have been blowing and plowing snow for almost 20 years, first with my BX22 and now with a BX23S using turf tires and 600+ pounds in the weight box in the rear of the tractor. Never had a problem even on hills. If you find that you need additional traction, then consider these rubber chains. https://www.rubbertirechains.com/

Another vote for turfs for snow work, I swap into turfs on my L3901 for the winter, back to Ags in the spring.

My newest B7510 came to me wearing R1's. They proved to be only slightly better than useless in the snow. That same tractor with turf tires is totally transformed. All three of my B-series tractors are on turf tires and I'm not likely to change them any time soon.

That having been said, my neighbor bought a new L-series this summer and I convinced him to go with the newer hybrid tires (R14?). They proved quite aggressive on grass when he was doing loader work. He has a 3-pth-mounted blower and hasn't had it out working yet so I'm most anxious to see how these tires work in the snow.

I have the R14's with ~650lbs in the ballast box for plowing and I am happy with how they perform. My rear tires are also fluid filled and I run them at at 20psi to give them a bit more bite. I also use the tractor for mowing. As long as you are in 2WD and don't take sharp turns, they are not bad on the lawn unless it is super wet.

Just used the LX2610 for its first major work out clearing the snow from my 4000-foot driveway. Just had the front mount blower and scraper blade on the rear and no ballast in tires. Very impressed with the handling of the R14 tires. Seemed to stay on track better than the B7200 with turfs.

I have had my 3310 since May of 21. This is only my second winter but I am so impressed with
these R14’s. They are way better in the snow than turf tires. I had turfs for 23 years. Yes they are loaded.
