Removed the rotary cutter for the season and installed my rear blade for the winter. This gave me some initiative to grade the gravel driveway and road that had gotten beat up over the long summer rainy season.

Saturday, I ran the G1800/mower around the yard just as the remnants of TS Nicole started coming through to blow off the leaves back into the woods. Now that all the leaves are off the trees, that should do it for the mowing season. Yesterday, I R&Red the deck, so that I could tip it up and thoroughly wash any residue from the bottom side. It all slid right off, with very little effort due to it soaking all night.

On the list for PM in the off-season is installing new PTO belts on the front of the engine. They've been slipping some on PTO engagement and are probably the factory originals. Also need to figure out how to increase the friction hold on the throttle lever. It gradually slips back down to idle. Annoying to have to hold it in place...

Another day at the farm. Dad decided that he wanted to open up the old corn crib that we hadn't been in since either 1998 or 2001, there was a debate on when we were last in it. anyway, we opened it up and found some stuff.

Chainsaw, mower, well pump, air compressor, table saw, miter saw, old stove, bench grinder, to list a gew of the things we found. So, we worked on cleaning it out.

Then our neighbor came over. His wife told him he needed to get out of the house and find something to do. We put him to work digging up stumps.

We went over to the farm house and found a large tree branch had come down.

In the process of cleaning things up, found a drag harrow that no one knew was there. Of course my tire was the one that found it. Ended up at the shop. They patched it, but made no promise it would hold long term. Nice big cut in it. So, I guess a new tire will be in my future.

I did pretty much the same. After I serviced and mounted the snow blower on the 3pt the fel was used to back blade and trim out part of my gravel driveway.
I had another triaxle load of 3/4 process delivered a few months ago. Although it has held up very well there were a couple of undulations I wanted to smooth out before I ended up turning the blower into an earth mover when it snows.

1st measurable snow in SW MI. Drives and roads not bad, plowing is slow as I have to stay off lawns this time of year. Radio in cab sure is nice.

The long wait on my EA Wicked 55 finally came to an end on Wed. 4 months to the week since ordering it. All I had time to do was unload it from the delivery truck and put it up for the night. I was too busy at work to do anything with it on Thurs and it rained cats + dogs on Fri.

With the rains + high winds another dead pine came down so it was clean up time on Sat. It was a good chance to try it out and it worked so much faster and easier then the old way of using the forks.

I got rid of some of the brush the previous owner left behind. And there's a LOT where that came from.

One of the reasons I got the grapple. Such a handy gadget when dealing with brush!

I couldn't imagine not having a grapple now that I've used one, especially with my sawmill. It stays on the tractor 95% of the time.

I may be outing myself as an unskilled bucket operator, but a similar bucket level indicator, which is the OEM option for mine, has greatly improved my results running the bucket. If I ran the bucket 8 hours a day 5 days a week probably wouldn’t need it but I run the grapple (can see the leading edge on it) and forks (have to stand to see them but I know the offset on the level indicator for the forks) more than the bucket, so being able to cut to the bottom of a pile of rock without digging a hole in the ground below the rock and contaminating them with dirt is actually a big deal to me. OEM for mine was only $50 when I bought it and it was definitely money well spent.

Cleaned up most of the junk wood [trimmings, cut offs, shorts, etc.] that was leftover from logging operations and left on the landing.
Hauled a few dozen grapple loads to other cutover areas, distributed some and made a large "habitat" pile with the rest.
Still have more to move to get the landing looking presentable before the snow flies

My sawmilling customer is building a cabin and decided on Cedar stairs and the risers/treads will be half logs.

I sawed about half of the order Saturday and.....

Finished sawing today. The hand rails will be 2X4's & 2X6's with 2X2 spindles. The landings will be various widths of 1".

And when the sawing is finished the cleanup begins.

It really was not as bad as it looks here.

But I was still happy to git-r-done. That ole M4900 loves to work.

Took the mm mower of the BX2380 for the winter. Put the FEL and Ballast Box on. Need to remove the metal edge and install the UHMW one for snow plowing.

Used my 27 year old L2350DT to push some cut sections of a Hackberry tree off into in ditch.

Its a compact tractor and only 25 hp. but I am always impressed at how well it will 'push' things

It won't lift much, will 'pull' OK but reaches a point where the tires just spin if I try to overwork it.

But it will 'push' like a glacier. I am continually surprised at what this small tractor will move.

In low range and 4wd it easily handles things I just wouldn't expect it to do.

In the pic below....not that big a deal. A section of trunk about 10' long and 32" in diameter.

Hackberry isn't as heavy as say Oak, but 'skidding' it along the ground creates pretty good resistance.

Little Orange Tractor handled it easily.

Got my 50.1 hour service done yesterday. I opted for a full hydro fluid change vs. just the filters. It took about an hour start to finish so not too bad. Most of the time was me cursing at the engine oil filter location jammed against hoses and wire looms.

Here’s a tip. Take the stainless belt guard off. That will allow you to move the lower coolant hose a little bit. I also use a nylon strap wrench ‘on a stick’ that fits on a half inch drive extension. That gives a lotta torque and grip on the filter.
