B2601 with B2650 front wheels?

Hey all,

I just upgraded to a B2601 from a B2301 and I noticed it has what looks to be the front wheels from a B2650 on it. The outside diameter of the tires is the same between the two machines. Does anyone see any potential issues with this configuration? I also noticed these new wheels have the rubber valve stem instead of the steel valve stem I typically see on wheels with R4 tires. Is there a specific reason for this? I'm just curious.

be sure to check that you actually have the correct set of tires/wheels for that model. Additionally, make sure that they are paired correctly. Another poster on this very forum found out that he was running a miss-matched pair on the front axle (one side was from 2601, the other from a 2650). With dealers swapping out tire types depending on what was ordered, I'm actually surprised that the mismatch errors aren't more common. Check yours to be sure. ;)

Thanks for the info. They're both the same size and model number, but they're not the correct wheels for the model. I haven't noticed any issues so far.

The two models do not offer the same size tires, B2601 should have a 23x8.50x12 and a B2650 comes with a 23x8.50x14. The front-wheel part numbers are different. The rear tires are different sizes also, B2601 has a 12-16.5" tire and a B2650 has a 12.4-16" tire. You need to call your dealer and get it straightened out. The lead ratio for the front axle is not going to be correct.

Are these pictures of your new 2601? If so am I reading the size correctly as one is a 12 and the other a 14.

I looked on the Titan tire web page, and it appears the 23x8.50-14 is 0.8" larger in diameter than the 23x8.50-12. I need to find the gear ratio for the tractor, then I can calculate if I'm in tolerance. I am going to contact the dealer too. I don't want issues down the road.

The 12" wheels are on the 2301, and the 14" wheels are on the 2601. The diameter of the tires on both machines are 23" as shown on the sidewall, but the tire on the 14" wheel is 0.8" larger diameter according to Titan tire.

Diameter on two different tires can be listed the same, rolling radius or circumference is what you need to use when figuring the lead factor.

Thanks. I didn't realize that there could be a difference until I looked at the tire manufacturers chart. I also noticed yesterday that the front wheels rub on the mower deck at full turn. I'm going to contact the dealer today and let them know.

You should not be able to have B2650 front wheels or tires are they are 14's and a B2601 are 12's.

So if you have 14's on it they are wrong tires and rims!
I would also check the rear tires and rims.

They are wrong wheels for sure. The outside diameter of the front tires is 0.8" taller than the correct ones. That definitely makes a difference in the circumference of the tire. It doesn't bind when switching from 4wd to 2wd, tested on concrete, but I'm not taking any chances, don't want issues later on. I only use 4wd when I need it, and never on surfaces where the wheels can't slip. I contacted the dealer to get them swapped for the correct wheels. The rear wheels are the correct size for the tractor.
