B2100 HST hydraulic fluid capacity after changing right rear seal.
Hello again, After receiving reassuring advise from Wolfman I'm thinking of replacing the seal this weekend. After checking my manual for replacing the hydraulic fluid once the jobs complete it states the transaxle capacity is 3.17 gallons, therefore I picked up 4 gallons of Kubota UDT Universal Trans -Hydraulic fluid.
My questions are..is this just the capacity of the transaxle or the entire system? Another words, when I drain the transaxle will the hydraulic pump, power steering and the lines to the FEL be drained as well? I'm hoping so because I want to drain the fluid and replace it in the entire system. thanks in advance

It's pretty much the entire system, some fluid will be trapped in FEL, power steering and such, but it really doesn't add up to much. ;)

As previously noted, FEL will not be drained. You can manually do each cylinder and line, a lot of work. When I do mine I do the following with FEL and backhoe. Fully curl your bucket and full lift on your boom before draining system. Then pull the 5 drain plugs, drain and leave plugs out, then CAREFULLY dump your bucket, then CAREFULLY lower your boom. This will nearly empty one side of your cylinders, and the other side will fill back with fluid from hoses and air. It's not getting everything out, but certainly drains a lot more and reduces the ratio of old to new oil in the system. YMMV
Edit: You may be able to do something with the steering if you wanted but I haven't done that.

We'll thanks very much to the both of you for the information .
This forum is absolutely terrific because of the willingness of guys like you who extend first hand knowledge to get the job done right. It's great having the WSM for referencing a repair, but there's nothing like talking to someone who's done it. Thanks again!
