I purchased this L 1500 about 20 years ago. It has been a great tractor and I have used it about 300 hours since then. Has about 800 hours on meter at this time. I am looking for info on how to adjust the clutch. Several years ago this info was on Orange Tractor Talks, but can't seem to find it now
Thank you for any info you might share.

There's not much for adjustment on your tractor. Just the free play in the pedal.

I adjusted my l1501 by disconnecting this linkage and screwing it out some. Checking the pedal as I went. By pressing down on the pedal with your hand, you can feel where the pedal starts to engage the clutch. I adjusted it till I had about 1" of movement pressing down on the pedal before it would start to engage the clutch. I'm not sure if this is the right way to do it though.

There's is this linkage underneath that connects to the pedal as well. Was wondering if someone could tell me what this linkage is for

The linkage underneath is the brake linkage, it shares the same shaft as the clutch linkage. ;)
The clutch pedal is connected to a tube and the brake linkage is connected to a solid shaft.

Hi All,

Bumping an old thread. I have an L1801, just turned 1000 hours.

While getting off the tractor I slipped and mashed the clutch pedal. The pedal slipped past the block on the underside of the foot rest. After taking the linkage apart and putting back as designed, I can barely get the clutch to disengage at the end of the travel. In addition, I had to adjust the clutch starter safety switch in order to get it to close. It seems the clutch lever has rotated on the shaft that attaches it to the clutch pedal. I can only see a 12mm bolt on the bracket that holds the lever to the shaft (through the clutch shaft greasing port). I can loosen that bolt but it does not release the lever from the shaft. Is there something else to loosen in order to move this? Is it reasonable to move the lever relative to the shaft in order to change the disengagement of the clutch pedal? I have extended the linkage adjustment all the way out and the clutch disengages in the last 1/2" of travel. I would like to get it closer to previous condition (disengaged when the pedal was at about 40 degrees from horizontal.

Sadly the only way to fix it properly is to split the tractor and repair the key washer that aligns the linkage. ;)
