A brand newbie here and my first Kubota. It's a G23 and I bought it to simply cut the grass, but since had a tow bar fitted and have commissioned our local blacksmith to make a snow plough, I love this machine, it's in a different league.

I need your help however, I have noticed that when I turn the key to the off and I have revs on, it won't shut off, but when I reduce the revs to minimum it does, albeit very slowly and it rattles the machine to buggery. I have also noticed that when I engage the PTO to the mower the engine dies, and noticed that the fuel shut off kicks in when this happens.

Any help much appreciated

Seat switch being out of adjustment would explain the dying when the PTO is engaged.
Not shutting down when you turn the key off would tell me you have a bad fuel shut off solenoid?
Clearly the 2 statements counter act each other.
Looking up that model it is an extremely unique model that I don't believe that we have here in the states, I can't pull a whole lot of information up on that model.

Thank you Idaho Wolfman.

I have checked the seat connection and all seams to be ok, i will check again for any adjustment and see if here is a switch. As for the fuel solenoid, are these fixable or is it a new unit?

Ok so a follow up

When I got this I took the high lift collector off and this opened a switch. I tied a zip tie around this to close it and the PTO runs ok now , quite obvious really, to my embarrassment. All of the safety switches must be interconnected so that the condition is right to engage the mower, safety at its best.

I still have a niggling problem with the engine shutting off if anyone can still help. There is a real delay in it shut down after the key has been set to off and it will only shut down at low revs.

Just so I am clear, should the engine close down what ever the revs or is this a trait with Kubota? I read the manual and it mentions a timed relay? where would this be on the machine?

thanks

Yes it should shut down at any RPM.
Sounds like the stop solenoid is hanging up if active when key is on or it is lagging if it's active when key is off (via a timer).
If you could take a picture of the Injection pump and or stop solenoid that might help figure it out.

for info, problem sorted.

I checked the timer relay and the solenoid and all was well. I then started the engine and wondered if the solenoid wasn't pulling back the cut off enough to stop the engine instantly and sure enough it was, by manually pushing the arm back just a few mm more it operated fine. Loosening off the solenoid bracket noticed there was some clearance in the holes for adjustment and hey presto, all good.

Thank you for attempting to help me North Idaho Wolfman
