Question about jump starting a vehicle

I think there are other possibilities: A bad ground connection between starter and frame. A bad connection between solenoid and starter. I suspect carefully checking contacts in each step of the starting circuit would have identified the problem, but the two above would be where I would start...

    Terrible Winter

We have had about 3 feet so far this season. We had six inches fresh on the 24th to insure a clean, white Christmas. Snow is about typical for this time of year. The big snows come in February, March, and April - sometimes May. The weather has been cool: It was -4 F this morning, -1 yesterday...

    skunks

I trained my dogs not to chase or tackle a skunk. It saved me lots of smelly evenings. Had a raccoon problem and used a live trap. Sometimes I'd catch a skunk. I always walked carefully, speaking as I went (no stealth!) up to the trap. Lifted the trap door and held it; the skunk walked out. I...

Need help!! Still no oil pressure!!

I have an L4240. Its oil pressure light came on at a little over 100 hours. Plenty of oil, and the tractor was not abused. It didn't seem reasonable that there was a serious mechanical problem. I went to my dealer and got a new oil pressure sending unit, installed it, and it fixed the problem.

    Kubota OEM block heater

I had the dealer install an OEM block heater on my L4240. It is just a simple two-prong heater, with no temperature sensor or control. When the outside temperature is -20F I leave the heater on all night. At other times, I just plug it in for an hour or two prior to tractor use.

    3rd function installed, now questions

" I'll gladly live with a little nuisance knowing that when I pull the key, everything is OFF." Good point. You have a button on your stalk that turns power on and off. If you feel you are likely to forget it, key powered off is best. Otherwise, key powered on should work nicely.

    Someone Must Know ???

Get yourself a skunk! They love yellow jackets. A skunk can keep a ten acre area totally free of yellow jacket nests. They'll also eat a lot of other nuisance insects. Treat them with respect and you'll never be sprayed.

    3rd function installed, now questions

I just recently installed the factory third function assembly on my L4240. I hooked the electrical up to keyed power. I will probably change it. As Kennyd4110 mentioned, you have to turn the key back on to relax the thumb. I find that to be a nuisance. From hard experience, I also agree with...

Oil Pressure Light Came On!!! pics

The mess shown in pictures 2 and 3 looks like water had gotten into the oil, and emulsified. Since you said this happened just 45 minutes after another oil change, I'd check the coolant level and look for a leak. Let us know what you find.

    Oil Pressure Problem L4240

My tractor is still under warranty. Yesterday, I drove to the dealer and purchased a new oil pressure sending switch. (The last one they had in stock.) This morning, I installed it. It was a ten minute job. Problem solved: It was a sending switch that had gone bad. Dealer says to return old...

    Oil Pressure Problem L4240

I posted this on TractorByNet as well as here, as I have gotten lots of help in the past from that forum also. I was out working with my 2012 L4240 today when I noticed the oil pressure lamp was on. I immediately stopped the tractor. Oil level is fine. Oil is nice and clean. The tractor has...

    Runs for 30 minutes, stalls

I think it is a fuel starvation problem. As others suggest, it is most likely a plugged fuel cap. That is the easiest place to check, also. If that doesn't correct the problem, look for a partially blocked exit from the fuel tank, or a filter that is partially plugged, etc. Good luck! Tell us...

Hi Dozer, Unfortunately, the pictures in the workshop manual are not too good. Here is the page for the L2550. Hope it helps. Phil

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I planned to do the 100 hr service on my L4240 this weekend. The tractor just turned 99.2 hrs this morning. However, I changed my plans and plowed snow instead. If I'm lucky, I won't need to do it again this spring. We're supposed to get anywhere between 12 and 18", with the storm ending...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

"Well most wont want to here this but, I started my woodpile for next winter." I spent the day cutting standing dead for this spring. Used five cord this winter, and ran out. We still have another month of freezes. Supposed to get snow tonight. I'm sick of it. PMH

previous owner used water for coolant, cracked block B7100

There are also professional welders who can weld cast iron. If the break is accessible, that is another way to go. Good luck. Tell us how you make out.

    Cold weather tip!

Hey, Wolfman, Like your approach and like your picture. Not sure how often you use your tractor in the winter, but I find that your approach (and mine) is an invitation for mice and chipmunks to move in. I've learned to scatter a half a box of mothballs underneath the tarp. In the winter, I...

    L5740 block heater ?

I haven’t done the operation myself, but the workshop manual gives the following sequence: 1. Open bonnet 2. Remove side panel. Hydraulic Pump Assembly 1. Disconnect the suction hose and main delivery pipe. 2. Remove the hydraulic pump assembly. (When...
