My 2002 L3010 (800 hours) looses power and stalls after 20-30 minutes. I changed the fuel filter and both air filters. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Make sure the tank cap has a good vent. A non-venting cap could be causing a vacuum in the tank restricting the fuel flow. After it shuts off, listen for a hiss when you loosen the tank cap.

What exactly happens?
Does it die all of the sudden or does it get weaker and weaker and just bog down?

All of the sudden I would suspect the fuel shut off solenoid is failing, or maybe a seat switch that is just on the edge of ajustment.
Bogging down and dying, I think Plugged vent in the fuel cap or maybe a bad lift or fuel pump.

How long before it will restart? Is it working hard, or hardly working? Temperatures normal?

Thanks all for replying. The tractor bogs down / loses power and stalls. I then leave it for 15-30 and use it again, normally to then put it away. If I try running it immediately it'll start then stall. I have not tried other delta times. It happens whether its working hard or hardly working. The temp gauge reads normal.

Nothing other than the gas cap fits the problem. Removing the gas cap should fix it right away.

Yeah, that sure sounds like a fuel cap that isn't venting.
Next time it stalls open the fuel cap a little and listen for it to draw in air. If it does then the vent is plugged. It could be dirty or a spider built a nest in it.
After you remove the cap it should start again.

I think it is a fuel starvation problem. As others suggest, it is most likely a plugged fuel cap. That is the easiest place to check, also. If that doesn't correct the problem, look for a partially blocked exit from the fuel tank, or a filter that is partially plugged, etc. Good luck! Tell us what actually caused the problem.

Here is my all time favorite answer to these symptoms.

"Make sure nobody put gasoline in the tank instead of diesel fuel."

Gee, wonder how I would know that?:p

Sometimes the gas can be smelled right at the tank.

You might try a fuel drain and refill with fresh diesel to eliminate the possibility.

thanks for all your help, it's taken me awhile to check the vent suggestion... no, when it stops running there wasn't a hiss while opening the fuel cap and the machine would not run immediately afterward. I have changed the fuel filters and air filters. Is there a 2nd filter or screen that may be clogged? thanks again

I had the same issue on my riding lawn mower(gas) but it was the electric shut off in the bottom of the carb. There was a needle that shut the fuel of for transport and was shorting out after the motor got hot. Unplugged it and threaded a bolt in the hole and has been great now for over three summers. My help

Guess it could be possible for the vacuum to go away after the engine dies but isn't sufficient time for the fuel to refill the filter bowl. Is there any way to loosen the cap when nearing the 30 min mark to see if that makes a difference?
