I have been using 80w-90 as well. Before I rip this thing apart, has anyone else had any glitter in their bx axle oil? I don't have any large metal fragments.

the glitter is very fine, abundant, and only seen only in sunlight. The noise is not that loud but I can hear it when I am in 4x4 through my hearing protection.

no warranty (tractor is from 2008). I did change the oil once before at about 200 hours and did it last week again when I started hearing this noise. Once I pull the axle apart and do an inspection I will update the post with findings

Hi, I have a bx with glitter in the gear oil from the front axle and an mild clunking in 4x4 (could be u-joint?). No odd noise in 4x2. How would one trouble shoot this? Are metal bits in the axle oil common? front axle oil changed at 200 hrs by me and replaced with 90w thanks

Re: bx1860 hst fan via drive shaft method I had to take off the fenders, foot board, and pull the engine out about 3-4 inches. No way to cheat this on an bx1860 that I could figure out.

Hi, New to driveshafts - is there a trick to remove the main driveshaft on a BX1860? It keeps cranking the engine when I try to spin off the three bolts. I got two off but the last one is a PIA. thanks

I have a bx2750 blower for my 1870. I also have a front blade. Ideally I would have a rear pto blower and front blade. Is there any hope of modifying the bx2750 blower to use on the rear 3pt/pto? Right off the bat I noticed that the PTO spline seems smaller on the blower. Is this idea crazy?

I wound up using a pair of brotec 1.25" wheel spacers to allow the front chains to clear. Otherwise there was no way to make chains work without any rubbing. They are a vast improvement for steering the tractor when plowing heavy snow - even with the blade in the float position.

I would like to put chains on the front of the bx1860 to help with steering while plowing snow (its cold and icy in central vermont). Has anyone found chains that fit the small front wheels with their limited clearance on the tie rod ends? thanks

yep, the yellow plug was the dip stick. Its really hard to get it out (not sure why).
